hi guys! i'm a noob in cars haha, so noob din ako in buying vehicles. gusto ko po kasi bumili ng Nissan Silvia for a daily driver/occassional drifting car sa track/porma. hehehe. alam niyo po ba kung magkano yung s13/s14 variants?

nagresearch po kasi ako dito sa tsikot, club silvia, sulit, and napansin ko na around 400k+ pa ang prices. whew! nasa 350k lang po kasi yung budget ko, and sabi ng mekaniko namin na meron daw mahanap na around 250K lang, basta all stock po. eeek, naguluhan na po ako. haha. magkano po ba yung prices and saan po makabili if ever?? thank you!!!

Given you are a noob with cars, I honestly do not suggest in buying a Silvia as your first car. A Silvia is not a good car for daily driving. For one, if anything breaks in the car, parts will be difficult to find. Second is fuel consumption. It takes lots of fuel to produce lots of horsepower. Third, drifting is hard on the tires.

The best way to do it is to have two cars. One for your daily driver and the second car is your "toy".

For the meantime, just buy a car for your daily driver and save up for a drift car or whatever "toy" car you would like.

350k lang budget ? Walang aabot na silvia diyan. Nasa 500k pataas pa iyon. Converted and all.

Kapag stock, ewan ko nalang kung hindi ka magkaron ng sakit ng ulo. Papaconvert mo pa, upgrade tires etc. etc.

More or less, malaki rin gagastos mo. Nasa 500k din.

And since you're a noob, go get yourself a RAV4

i agree with gh, a silvia isn't a noob car. also making your daily driver a track car is going to be expensive, not just because of modifications but also because things will break all the time.

If you still want a single car for both daily driver and track use, you can opt for cars like the AE89 Corolla. It is cheap to buy and you can have several engines swapped into it for increased performance. The other areas like suspension and brakes can also be similarly upgraded using original Toyota suplus parts (TRUENO/LEVIN) or aftermarket performance parts. This will definitely be an expensive route. You could spend 200% over the value of the original stock car in upgrade parts alone, not including labor and maintenance costs.

Or you can find someone selling his modified "toy" car which would already have all the upgrades installed and setup properly and buy it from him. This can be a good deal for you since it would be cheaper than doing all the upgrades yourself. Downside, you might be buying a worn out racing car with lots of hidden problems.

Another possible alternative car is the Sentra B13 or B14. B13 is the 1992-1995 model. B14 is the 1996-1999 model. Stock, both models can be bought cheaply under 200K. You can also find Sentra units being sold with engines upgraded to a SR20DE or SR20DET engine. SR20DE engine is a non-turbo engine that makes around 140/145 hp stock but can be tuned easily to 180hp with "simple" mods. SR20DET engine is a turbo engine that produces around 210hp and is internally strong enough to reach over 300hp. Extreme mods of this engine can exceed 800hp. If you want to look for Sentra with SR20s, you can check the Sentra clubs.
