odell, ang tinutukoy mo ba e yung kapag pinindot mo may iilaw na orange yung switch? pampabilis ng warm up ng engine yun. ginagamit ko tuwing umaga bago ako umalis na bahay.

Hi Patrol gurus,
Bumigay na yung aircon compressor ng ride ko, and the dealer qouted me a price of ~65K for the part lang, question: is it recommended to just go with the brand new compressor or should I look for a surplus part? If you recommend to go with surplus, where should I go looking for one and what shop would you recommend to do the installation? Btw, para sa 4.5 gas 2001 model to, and according to the dealer it uses a diff. compressor from the diesel engined Patrols.
TIA for the advice.
try to inquire about sanden compressors. these are brand new and costs less than 20K. but you might need to fabricate a new bracket for this.

I recommend going to a shop and just having your existing compressor fixed.

Need an Ambulance? We sell Zic Brand Oils and Lubricants. Please PM me.
If it's out of warranty, have another shop check the compressor for a 2nd opinion as Otep mentioned.
Try to check with the pipings of the a/c system also when you have the work done. With some blown Nissan compressors i've read about, the case was not with the compressor being faulty but the pipings were clogged up, causing additional pressure to the compressor.
bro -- kung may contact ka sa loob ng casa, makakakuha ka ng mura. most casas have some patrol that has been junked and they cannibalize this for parts. baka maka timing ka. labor cost at tip lang ang katapat
if not, try mo rin sa mga nissan parts dealers sa banawe
okay naman ang surplus pag maganda ang condition. but like any surplus item, its a risk at baka bibgay rin yan kaagad.

Has the change oil maintainance schedule of the car been followed? Tensioner noise usually comes out if the oil change intervals have not been religiously followed or (probably) if the improper oil had been used.
Try to get a second opinion on this first.
vinj, diba ang tensioner, ito yung nakakakabit sa may fan belt?Originally Posted by vinj

When tensioners are mentioned with regard to Nissan engines, the first thing that comes to mind with me is the timing chain tensioner. Yung sa fan belt/bearings i'm not that familiar.
On timing chain equipped engines, the tensioners (not the chain) would need replacement once noise starts to emit from it (clatter sound, especially when the engine is still cold). The usual cause is improper maintainance (followign the change oil interval specifically). With our old Sentra, we sold it with over 140,000kms on the odo and it never needed a tensioner change; in contrast i've seen similar vehicles with 90,000kms and already the tensioners are making noise.
i was referring here the tensioner of the fan belt. yung sa akin kasi umingay din, pero marupok na kasi yung belt, buti hindi pa nasira yung tensioner. pero yung sa kakilala ko, sira yung tensioner, 9K yata ang assembly.Originally Posted by boybi

Hi all, thanks for the advice bros - meron ba kayong ma-recommend na shop to do the aircon compressor repair work you guys mentioned?
Thanks for the shop recommend Otep & Boybi!
*111prez: wala akong contact sa casa kaya try ko muna yung repair shop route, thanks.
Regarding Patrol PMS, how do you go about this? Assuming you're having CASA do this and not DIY or you're friendly neighborhood shop, are you following the recommended PMS schedule, i.e. every 5,000 Kms. or 3 months** whichever comes first?
(** if i remember correctly from what i read on the manual)
usually, every 10,000kms ako nagpapa-PMS sa casa. yung 5000kms in between sa labas na.

Thanks for recommending Mario Reyes' shop Otep and Boybi! Just got back from there last Sat. and what Nissan diagnosed as a 65k compressor replacement repair bill, Mang Mario and his son diagnosed as an engine belt replacement task for just 500 pesos.
What can I say, from 65k to 500, you do the maththis father and son tag team are auto aircon gurus!
(my testimonial to this guy's skills is in his thread, as well as another pic contribution of the legend in action, hehe)
