need help - TIMING CHAIN TICKING!!!

Guys,

need your assistance

i heard a ticking sound in my engine i'm thinking its my timing chain ticking..

i noticed it 3days after i had my usual chage oil

i used mobil1 ordinary oil..is it something to do with the oil i used? or just a co-incident lng? how much budget if will replace timing chain, guide and tensioner? or can you suggest any DYI muna before i bring it to the shop for timing chain replacement?

hmm, that sounds about right. Are you sure though that it's a timing chain and not a belt?

Timing belts are usually replaced around 100K or so. Timing chains are often indestructible.

If it's a belt, if I were you, I'd have it towed by a friend to my mechanic. Risking to run it might incur you a lot of problems (and unnecessary expense) due to parts that the snapped belt will destroy.

When do you hear the ticking sound? Right after you turn the engine off? That could be only the metal parts shrinking back to their normal size after expanding due to the heat.

i own a B14. ticking sound lang ba? not yung parang jeepney engine sound? kung yung latter, its the tensioner guide. i have already replaced it na din sa B14 ko. cost is 3k, parts and labor na. imho, pwedeng i-DIY pero madugo. and you do not need a timing chain replacement, unless its out of shape na din, which is very unlikely. kung ticking lang, tama yung sabi ni woohoo.

Baka hindi timing chain yan Sir, got the same issue before, di ko lang alam kung magkaiba definition natin ng ticking sound, pero mine was found to be just the metal covering sa may middle part na connected sa exhaust, di ko alam eksaktong tawag eh pero nasa may ilalim siya almost just below the engine mejo sa ilalim between engine and dashboard. Masyado kasi tricky yung sound kasi normally sa hood mo siya papakinggan para iinspect and since nandun siya sa side na un, most will think na timing chain yung tumutunog kasi halos pareho lang talaga, when in fact baka loose metal covering lang na pwede namang tanggalin without any effect. Try mo kaya ipacheck sa mga gumagawa ng tambutso, malalaman naman nila agad yung sa isang silip lang, mas maririnig din nila talaga kung dun nga kasi sa ilalim nila papakinggan yung tunog. Suggestion lang po, malay lang natin, baka po pareho lang tayo ng naging prob, it might save you a lot.

I will have it check today at AEROHEAD AUTO SHOP para sure narin hirap kasi baka bigla magbreakdown pag kasama ko mga kids ko..a friend of mine recommend this shop oks daw trabaho and price...located daw sa 10th ave Caloocan

update lang guys..

ok na.. super tahimik na ung engine..AEROHEAD replaced upper and lower TENSIONER oem na ginamit nila,,then tune up and timing..oks na pati hatak

Sir magkakano po lahat nagastos ninyo? Same din kasi yung sentra ko nung nagchangeoil ako biglang may tunog na parang sa diesel pakiramdam ko sa timing chain din yun e.
