yes, it's a 2sm. but i replaced it with a smaller 1sm, when the original battery died. para mas magaan at mas mura. i did not notice any drop in performance nor lifespan. besides, the MT is light and easy to push-start, should the battery start dying later on. heh heh.
i have no added electric accessories. only all stock.

the clamp does its job naman, even as the 1sm's footprint is smaller than the battery tray's.
    no issues.

i've been researching in google on how to remove the oil filter of the car without using a tool... i've seen alot of good looking improvise tools that seem to work... has anyone tried to use an improvise oil filter remover?

the usual problem is the slip (dumudulas). and, if you intend to re-use it, the crunch (can distortion).
if you can remedy this slip, you can wrest it out using your bare hands. try wrapping around it, a length of rubber, say, inner tube. but if you do not intend to re-use the filter, tuhugin nyo po ng screwdriver at ikutin nyo.

it was hand-tightened when it was installed, and you can probably wrest it off using your bare hands.

if all else fails, then it's oil filter removal tool time. hindi naman masyadong mahal.

    good luck.

i dont intend to reuse the oil filter anymore boss. its rusted as hell hehehe

it is very hard to remove, i have three theories on why:
    1. the screw/nut or whatever has rusted shut and prevents any movement of the oil filter (which i find to be unlikely)
    2. the paper gasket of the oil filter has stuck in between the filter and the engine.
    3. some goofball must have tightened it with a tool years ago thats why i cant remove it by hand!

ive also read about poking the filter with a screw driver, try ko yun as my last resort

    thanks for your advice...

does it have a chance of damaging the threads? or no naman?

i also read that sometimes daw if you poke it with a screw driver and turn, the top comes out but the base still remains... thats what im afraid of

i have also seen specks of RTV sealant around some places in the engine, such as valve cover. i have never used any type of sealant on my volkswagen beetle before... would using RTV or any type of sealant on the sentra (or more modern cars in general) be considered proper? or is it just another one of those mekaniko sa talyer remedyos?

does anybody know if AAP tows for non members? could their truck fit in tight streets? ive read somewhere that they have a land rover that can tow cars even in basements... sounds expensive.

if you can have the guys push your car out where it can more easily be towed or loaded onto the platform, the easier you may be able to get a towtruck.

kung hindi naman lumubog sa tubig o putik ang kotse, i don't think the alternator needs emergency cleaning.
before the advent of computerized engine management systems, we would run the engine even without the alternator. all we need is a good, strong battery. i was able to bring home my car from 20 km away, with a dead alternator.
    i don't know about today's cars.

but if you are asking, is the alternator stuck up, i don't know. try to see if you can turn its pulley. if it is stuck, perhaps it would be a good idea to bring it down. baka masunog ang bearings, atbp.

so, are you reviving the car to run on its own to the shop, or are you piggy backing it onto a tow truck?

    alright, thanks.

when i first made my vw bug run i didnt do anything to its charging system... it ran perfectly without cleaning

but im worried about more modern systems, im under the impression that theyre more sensitive or "maarte" than the older ones

just saw this part of your reply now hehehe...

im planning to tow it back home in paranaque because the unit is in pasay, then i will revive it to bring it to the shop for changing the tires, shocks, and body repair...

im trying to save money on labor, so the things na ipapagawa ko in the shop are the ones i cant do without special tools...

just an update, finally nauwi ko na siya.

i was able to completely free the engine, ang ginawa ko binabad ko in a mix of kerosene and atf (i researched online about it) and with a few clicks of the starter umikot na!

and i tried everything to remove the oil filter improvise tools, and poking it with a screwdriver to no avail... i really dont want to buy an oil filter tool, does anyone have any more advice on removing it?

tuhugin na nyo ng screwdriver. make it a longer screwdriver, so's you will have more torque on it. but plan your tuhog well, para wala kayong matatamaan kapag i-ikutin na.
or, baka nanigas na ang seal. try wd-40.

tinuhog ko na po ng screwdriver... ala talaga. its too hard, i already sprayed wd-40 and pinainit ko pa with a torch it really doesnt want to budge...

maybe i really need the tool na ikakabit mo sa breaker bar or something para madami talaga ako torque...

Maybe you are turning it the wrong way.

To loosen, turn it counter clock-wise.

yes, i am turning counter clockwise.

is it the threads or the gasket thats making that oil filter so tight?
maybe i could use a propane torch to burn the gasket off?
