Mas mahal kasi siguro ang Land Cruiser Pero matibay din ang Land Cruiser dare I say mas matibay pa kaysa sa Patrol (ownership bias )

because of the name? kasi nagpapa-"patrol" sya para sa VIP? hehe. well, kung ano man, i think it's a testament to it's ruggedness and durability. just like the black suburbans you usually see in american movies na ginagamit ng fbi, cia, etc.

They need the antagonistic / battle ready impression of the Patrol and yet much cheaper than that of LC. In fact when GMA and FG convoy visit here in St. Luke’s sari saring US SUV na mahahaba ang dala nila… no more PATROL and LC’s.

Sa US mostly GMC Yukons Denali ang gamit ng secret service.

The escort ambulance that we always see is S.O.P for the President's luzon area runabouts.

Kailangan yan especially kung kasama si Fat, este, First Gentleman. Baka atakihen eh

The President's convoy is always noted for their 'drive anywhere' capabilities so counter-flowing is essential for them especially when they constantly change their driving route to put off potential assasination attacks.

at least for the patrol safari, i can attest to its durability and ruggedness. that thing feels like a tank. and the torque monster under the hood is really something. ours is a '95 model and still runs like a champ

For one thing, the PSG motorpool has a pretty good relationship with Nissan dealerships making servicing and repairs easier. If the in-house wrenches at Malacanang can't fix it, the Patrols usually end up at Nissan Pasong Tamo.

And Nissan Patrols cost 'only' roughly Php2.4M (manual, cloth seats, less wood, etc.). A Toyota LC100 sold by local Toyota dealers cost more and uses a more car-like independent front suspension as opposed to the stone-aged solid front axle of the Patrol.

Nissan Patrols look very understated. Perfect as back up vehicles as they will never out-bling their principal's ride.

Plus there's no denying the intimidating presence of the Patrol. No stupid kotong cop has flagged me down even when I intentionally 'fall' for their traps (e.g. EDSA U-turn slots, the 'Park and Ride swerving racket', etc.).

why Nissan Patrol for back up securities?
