    This summer of 2010 I'm bound to wave sad-bye to my Civic EG which I have loved for long. The feeling just sucks. Anyway ....

    I'll be the one paying for the monthly ammortisation of my mom/bro's n16.
    I'll be partly owning it and will use it full time...

    It's the gx variant with qg13dne engine (so underpowered, as they say)...

    Yes,.. and switching from the sporty honda (with a quick modded jdm engine) to the eco-runner nissan (stock engine) makes the underpower really noticeable. And man, the so-high body roll...

    Anyway, just want to know if indeed an SR20DE or at least an SR18DE could well fit in the hood to replace the stock 1.3 engine? Has anyone here tried that?

    I know it aint a good idea replacing such stock, new, clean and lean burn engine into one with such higher displacements, especially since it's jdm surlplus,.. but just can't help but to want to do it.

    * * * * *
    Also, any suggested mods to make the handling better? reduce body roll? would a strut bar alone help? ...

    TIA

    from this forum:

    http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforu...ication-2.html

    ... it seems to be possible to swap in a SR20 engine into the N16. Personally I haven't seen/heard of anyone doing such a swap locally yet.

    It should be possible. But if you want the job perfect, you'll need a newer SR20 from the US or Japan, so you can maintain dashboard functionality. (SR20 was avaliable with the N16/B16 bodies elsewhere) I don't know if the older distributor-type SR20s can mate up perfectly with the instrument panel.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    Hehe feeling sad I understand, I feel for you. But it's ok since both cars are naturally eco cars anyway.. . As for the engine, N16 body is the equivalent of the USDM variant B16 (although there version is much more handsome), so meaning... surprise surprise... the B16 SE-R!!!

    B16 Sentra SE-Rs have QR25DE meaning the 2.5 L same from our local 250 X-Trail! Now thats a lot of stock power were talking about exceeding Honda's B series and Nissan's SR series (200 hp for the new Se-R in the U.S.). Except for the SR NeoVVL engines (what the Japanese call "double Vtec" engines)..

    W/ that why not try that engine also, choices would be SR16VE- strongest 1.6L ever made but rare 197 hp baby and SR20VE- 187hp and 204 newer version. For the partsyou can notice them SR NeoVVL by the way they sound. You know when the Honda V-Tec kicks in w/c the high high pitched engine sound goes on, in the NeoVVL, expect two high pitched sounds coming out at different rpms!! Thats why they say VVL stands for "Ver Very Loud". This happens due to the fact that NeoVVL engines unlike Honda, the intake and exhaust high lift cams engage at diff. time for a more flatter consistent power band. I heard one the other day in a B13 along edsa. Nasty.

    That sounds exciting, but given its rarity plus the tag price ...
    I can only go for an SR so I still have some for suspension/brake upgrades...

    Here's one reason why Sentras, especially sleeper types, are a bit of my scare when I cruise along EDSA, C5 and SLEX ... but now Im soon bound to be a Sentra person, this is something good and proud to begin with...

    kung bago n16 mo..its pointless to change the engine..unless brand-new din papalit mo..

    tsaka, sr-engines are old(but reliable)....hanapin ko lang muna kung anu pinalit...

    matic ba? SR20vet kabit mo hehehe

    I see, thanks for the replies.

    Although I really want to add power by replacing the QG with an SR engine, I wouldn't want to be the first to do it locally ... for compromise issues ...

    But I heard of a tuning shop that specialises in Nissan engine swaps. It's something like DMF malapit sa Forced Speed? Not really sure ...

    * * * * *

    I see. I'll keep myself posted until one local b16 owner actually swaps one in..

    I also thought of the GA16DE, although Im quite fickle-minded about it.

    * * * * *

    Since it can wait, guess I'll just have to work on the suspension first, especially on reducing the body roll. Hopefully a set of 16's mags and a strut bar would do just fine ... and a front stabilizer bar sana.

    can't lower the car that much since my mother might occassionally use it..

    Thanks again

    Tapos ang problema mo... go to Street Specs banawe. If I were you either SR20VE or QR25DE para Se-R na. I think you can also interchange body parts w/ the more handsome USDM B16 in this. COOOOL! If overkill a SR20VET or DET is a good idea as well. As what enthusiasts say SRs and RB26 are bullet proof engines, kahit oldy matibay talaga.

    Oh shoot! pahamak kc si sir Ignited... The USDM Sentra that I think you can interchange body parts is the B15 Sentra, not the B16. Coz these are the models (N16 and B15) that are similar in suspension chasis etc. And I'm sure Sir Ignited made a mistake about he's post. Baka nalito coz of the num. 16 by the word N16 and B16. haha.

    DMF specializes in RWD Nissan engine swaps. SR20 or RB25DET into anything you can think of. Not Sentras, but they might be able to do it.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

goodbye civic eg, hello sentra n16 ... can i fit you with an SR engine?
