any feedbacks on this car? My friend is planning to buy.
nice car
pros
pormado na
love it in black
leather steering wheel
cons
muffler (noisy noisy noisy)
engine (although not necessarily a con, still same as super saloon)
mechanically its the same as the super saloon version. That means you only get a rated 105HP. Otherwise, it looks very nice (as compared to the Super Saloon version).Originally Posted by carlocaraddict
BTW, since its relatively old, check all the suspension & steering bushings and ball joints for wear & tear. Ask the current owner if he has replaced any of them already and when. If not, that will be the first things you'll be replacing.
It's a nice porma car (esp. when lowered with 17's) and if you set it up with the basic bolt-ons and suspension set-up, a nice track car as well.Other than the kit, it's a Sentra Super Saloon.
Observe the idling as this is also one achilles heel of the Sentra engines (idling problems can usually be fixed easily though as the culprits are more or less known). Brakes also are puny adn upgrading the pads is also suggested.
The idling problem is more found in the B13 than in the B14 sentra. Anyway, if you have a GA16DE engine, you might want to give the guys at Nissanbayan.com a call to help you fix the problem. The GA16DNE engine seems not to have that particular problem.Originally Posted by vinj
B13 & B14 brakes, even if small, are pretty good at stopping the car. Even with wider tires, it takes a bit of work to make them fade. Of course, I've driven mine hard enough to make the pads SMOKE!![]()
Note: B13 & B14 sentra chassis has a relatively short front suspension travel. This has to be considered if you plan to lower the car. If you are lowering the car, you WILL want trim the front shocks rubber bumper to give you an extra 1/2 to 3/4 inch of suspension travel.
Note: B13 & B14 sentra can be upgraded with the SR20DE (140-145hp) engine and it is almost a drop-in style engine swap. A SR20DET (turbo w/ 200hp) is also possible but will some cutting & custom piping for the intercooler. Compare that with the GA16DE (110hp) or GA16DNE (105hp).
Just to add, the idling problem still shows it's ugly face on the DNE engine but it's not as bad and as common as that on the DE. Usually cleaning the TB, AAC, and PCV gets rid of it (no more MAF regrounds and the like).
On the brakes, they are adequate for daily driving but if you do one hard brake on the highway (esp. with the matic model), your stock pads already fade the next time you brake... we cured ours when we switched to Bendix Metal Kings.
Sadly, lowered Sentras arent as comfy as the lowered Civics.
