After-Tune Up Problems

Good day mga chief's,

Hope you guys can help me out.

I just had my 97 sentra tuned-up last Saturday at a Shell gas station near our place, and for some odd reason, parang "mas bumagal" sya kumpara mo sa dati nyang takbo. Nawala or more or less nabawasan yung "lakas ng palo or pitik" nya when you step on the gas.

When the Shell mechanic was about to pull out the "old spark plugs", may nabunot syang mga papel tho later on we found out na "bulak" pla yung mga nakabalot sa dulo ng spark plugs.

Sabi nig mekaniko, baka maluwag na raw yung rubber tubes na bumabalot sa spark plugs "kaya nilagyan ng bulak" nung dating nag tune-up. Uncle ko pa kase yung las na nagpatune up nung kotse bago ko binili sa kanya at nasa US na sya kaya di ko na rin nalaman pa kung saan sya nag pa tune-up dati.

The mechanic also mentioned na kailngan ko daw palagyan ng apat na "VALVE CELLS" yung sa lalagayan ng spark plugs para sumikip din daw at para hindi pasukin ng langis yung spark plugs, kase nakita nila na yung iba ay may konting langis.

I'm just now confused kung ano ang naging problem at kung bakit biglang bumigat o bumagal yung sentra ko. But on a positive note naman, medyo nawala an yung malakas na "THUD" na naririnig ko minsan pag bigla kang nag re-release ng clutch pag sa first or second gears.

Tsip, papalitan mo na ng bago yung valve cells. ( di ako sure kung eto yung tawag mitsu kasi makina ko at eto yung ginawa ). Dapat selyado yung sparkplug mo para swabe ang sunog. Pag nagpapalit ka pa adjust mo na rin valve clearance.

So tama nga sila, kailngan ko na ring papalitan yung VALVE CELLS, pero ibig sabihin yun din ang dahilan kaya bumagal yung sentra ko pagkatapos ma tune-up??

Anyways, sige palalagyan ko nalang ng bagong VALVE CELLLS yung makina ko at papa-adjust ko na rin yung VALVE CLEARANCE.... thanks again for your help chief.

Kung may konting langis spask plug mo pwede na maging dahilan kung bakit humina hatak ng sasakyan mo at kung mabasa ng langis papalya na andar nito.

I see, so the solution is kailngan ko na talagang papalitan o palagyan ng VALVE CELLS yung mga spark plugs ko at pa-adjust na rin yung VALVE CLEARANCE as initially suggested.

The valve clearances of the GA engines should not be adjusted as these are already self-adjusting; if the clearances are off then the shims would need replacement.

Have your timing checked also as it may be off and this can also contribute to less "hatak".

Thanks for the input chief, so this means that I only need to buy and install the VALVE CELLS?

Can I ask what does "SHIMS" refer to?? sorry I'm not really an engine guru so to speak. Not yet, that is

naguluhan lang ako...

valve cells? o valve seals? most probably, if your spark plugs do have oil in it, its the oil seals...

Actually, medyo napa-isip din ako dun, baka nga mali lang dinig ko sa mekaniko... baka nga VALVE SEALS yung sinasabi nya... so chief, most likely, yun nga ang kailngan kong palagay para hindi na pasukin ng oil yung spark plugs?
