Unfortunately I only got to test the 4x2. Dealer says the 4x4 should've arrived the day before. Who knows what really goes on with these guys. I only got to drive it a couple of Km's before I got called off to an emergency and had to leave.

What I like:
2.0 engine is ok for city driving if you're lightly loaded (3 pax). It doesn't have great acceleration but in traffic it's pretty adequate.
Body lean in corners is minimal (for the height). Bump absorption is good, and the first row seats and left and right second row seats are really comfortable. 2nd row seats recline a bit
Noise insulation seems to be great, huge difference when you open the windows.
A/C is really cold, glad new Nissans are still typical of this.

What I don't like:
Rear wheelwells have a carpet-like lining on them. These will be a pain to clean when dirty.
2nd row left and right side headroom. It doesn't help that the upholstery near the top of the windows is thick and close to the head when the seats are not reclined.
3rd row seats. They should've just removed them so the 2nd row could slide farther back to accommodate leggy models, este taller people.
Halogen headlamps. It's 2014, this thing should have projectors at least.
The width of the car reminds you that this is still a compact crossover. It's big for its segment but I can't help but ask for more. With a couple more inches of width it would've blown everything else out of the water.

I hope I can finally test drive the 4x4 next week.

i hope hindi na malakas sa gas un new xtrail... We had the old xtrail way back in 2005-2006 and ang bilis lng ng maubos ng full tank nun..

By the way, how is the after sales service ng nissan nowadays? I know depende which dealership pero in general ok ba?

Yun 2L hopefully di na malakas sa gas since it's a new engine. Yun 2.5L hindi na ako umaasa unless walang traffic everyday. :D After sales is good in my experience with 2 generations of Xtrail. One good thing about low sales of Nissan is that their service is faster and mas tutok. Since they are eager to get sales, they are more courteous to customers. Hope they won't change if their sales increase.

I think the X's 2nd row has the best legroom in the segment. Baka nakakangalay lang sa mga 5'6" and below, yung tuhod kasi mas mababa sa hips.

Yung previous gen Santa Fe maganda naman, mabilis lang lumambot yung shocks. Sayang wala sya masyadong aftermarket options sa shocks.

Try calling Nissan Gallery Ortigas for a test drive. I was able to test drive both the 4x2 and 4x4 on different days. Maganda pa yung test drive route, you can go up Ortigas, turn right at Greenmeadows Ave., left at Giraffe, right at Temple Drive, then left at White Plains Ave., then U-turn back. May paakyat, paliko and straightaway. Sa Makati kasi wala akong maisip na place na maganda mag test drive. Puro traffic.

Yup, GS brake pads last around 15Tkms? And then may kalampag sa may sliding door na di ko ma-isolate. With the Tucson there's noise from the tailgate. The shocks last around the same kms as the brake pads. The rubber bushes of Hyundai seem too soft.

I didn't consider the Escape too, as pricing seems high. Also looks small compared to the X. You could try the Forester if you don't mind a stiffer ride. The 2.0 entry or premium models have good low rpm torque (for a 2.0). I just didn't like the ride. There were 5 of us and still the ride was still a bit stiff (maybe due to the auto leveling struts in the back). The finish of the Subaru is tops, even underneath, at the seams, at the corners and edges. It's like a high end watch, even the places that can't be seen are finished well as if they were made to be seen. The premium 2.0 is really something. Sunroof, motorized auto close/open tailgate (operable by smart key), torquey boxer engine, curtain airbags front and rear, HID auto on headlamps, front UV protected glass, two tone interior, leather seats, etc, etc. Bagay na bagay sa binata. Seems like a steal at 1.6M. :thumbup:

Everything was nice except the ride and occasional pitchiness of the CVT at low speeds.

BTT we've ordered a silver 4x4. Silver na naman. Wala kasi mapagpilian masyadong kulay. Should arrive this November.

A fleet of X's for Unlilab? That's a sight to see. Daming talaga nilang pera.

At first kala ko matipid kasi sabi ng SA 10km/l daw and kasi cvt na. Ang review din sa ************ 10km/l kaya mataas expectations ko, matakaw rin pala. Baka mux na lang kami

MU-x vs an Xtrail? That's miles difference in fuel consumption.

Claimed FC figures are usually achieved during standardized controlled tests. I never believe the trip computer FC. I get much more accurate measurements using the fuel tank top off method, but still I'm under no illusion that in real world situations I'll be getting anywhere near the published FC.

We should factor in not just the FC but the purchase and running costs as well. Today's turbodiesels are very heavy on maintenance. They require more frequent filter and fluid changes, a lot more oil (more expensive oil as well), expensive filters, and parts are expensive (EGR valve, cat, turbo, fuel pump, injectors, etc). It's either you pay at the pump with gassers or at the shop with oilers.

try your current vehicle's trip computer at the same route..with a fresh reset of the trip computer.

May nakausap ako sa Nissan Southwoods na ahente at sabe niya 16km/L consumption ng 2.0 variant. Natawa nalang ako. Confident na confident kase. Even my Ecoboost won't reach that consumption maliban na lang kung puro NLEX dadaanan ko everyday. ;)
