I doubt it, the X-Trail is not so far-priced against the Tucson. We just wish there will be a Diesel version for us.

I saw the new one with diplomatic plates. It's quite cozy and commodious inside. I'd say to Nissan, bring it here please.

Nissan Releases New Clean Diesel X-TRAIL "20GT"
    - New "M9R" Engine-equipped SUV complies with Japan's stringent
"Post New Long-term Regulations" Emissions Standards –

TOKYO (Sept. 4, 2008) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of a new clean diesel X-TRAIL "20GT," which goes on sale September 18 at Nissan dealers nationwide. The new X-TRAIL 20GT has met Japan's stringent "Post New Long-term Regulations"*1 – the first vehicle in the world to do so*2.
    X-TRAIL 20GT

    SHIFT_challenging spirit.
    Setting New Standards
The X-TRAIL 20GT achieves high fuel-efficiency of 15.2km/L under Japan's 10-15 test mode operation, representing an increase of approximately 30% in fuel economy over a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with the same power output. In addition to its low fuel consumption, the X-TRAIL's new "M9R" clean diesel engine is more economical to operate, due to the lower price of diesel versus standard gasoline in the Japan market.

In addition to complying with Japan's stringent "Post New Long-term Regulations" emission standards which stresses high environmental performance, the new M9R clean diesel engine also achieves high levels of driving performance demanded by X-TRAIL owners.

The 2.0-liter M9R engine has the power equivalency of a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, generating maximum power of 127kW(173PS)/3750rpm and maximum torque of 360N・m(36.7kgf・m)/2000rpm. The engine provides high torque at low rpm and delivers ample performance in any driving situation. At the same time, the environmentally–friendly and fuel-efficient M9R engine emits far lower CO2 than a comparable 3.5-liter gasoline V6 engine, achieving excellent emissions performance. The engine design also emphasizes smooth, quiet operation, eliminating unpleasant noise and vibration associated with current diesel powerplants.
New technologies utilized in the M9R engine which reduce emissions, noise and vibrations include:
    Emissions Reduction Measures
    • Common rail system
    • EGR cooler
    • Diesel particulate filter (DPF)
    • Lean NOx Trap catalysts (LNT)
    • Double swirl port

    Noise and Vibration Reduction Measures
    • Piezo injector
    • Balancer shaft
    • Highly Rigid Chassis
    • Highly Rigid Engine Mount Brackets
    • Sound insulation glass

    Distinctive Styling and Comfortable Interior
The X-TRAIL 20GT offers versatility, convenience and high levels of dynamic driving pleasure. The front grille was redesigned to the same design found on the popular European version of the X-TRAIL. The new X-TRAIL 20GT also adds Nissan's advanced Scratch Guard paint (offered as standard equipment in six colors), which self-repairs minor scratches in the paint's clearcoat surface.

Inside, the comfortable, high utility X-TRAIL interior adds a number of new features for the 20GT model, including new sporty seat fabric, step lamps, Intelligent Key and additional audio speakers (6 speakers total).

The new clean diesel X-TRAIL 20GT is offered with ALL MODE 4x4i and 5-speed manual transmission. It is priced at 2,999,850 yen (including consumption tax).
*1: In Post New Long-Term Regulation, regulation values of NOx is reduced by 47% and the values of PM (particulate matter) by 64% from those of "New long-term regulation" which has been in effect since 2005 (applicable to vehicles weighing more than 1,265kg). Post New Long-Term Regulation is effective for new model vehicles beginning Oct. 2009, and for existing models and imported vehicles, starting Sept. 2010.

Take it easy, it's not yet decided yet, NMPC has no plans for both the Rouge or the new X-Trail, but if you'll pray for having both, you might have a chance.

    NISSAN X-TRAIL 20GT WINS
    ENERGY CONSERVATION PRIZE

TOKYO (Jan. 29, 2009) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that the X-TRAIL 20GT featuring clean diesel engine, released in September 2008, has won the ANRE (Agency for Natural Resources and Energy) Director-General's award in the 19th annual Energy Conservation Prize. This is the second consecutive year that Nissan has won the prize awarded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The award is open to the public, and covers a wide range of energy conservation innovations, including use of new energy- and resource-saving or high energy-efficient materials, equipment and systems for non-military use. It recognizes innovative ideas to help accelerate wider commercial application of new energy conservation technologies.
Nissan's X-TRAIL 20GT featuring clean diesel was recognized for its cleaner emissions in comparison with original diesel engines. As the first vehicle in the world to achieve Japan's stringent "Post New Long-term Regulations", it provides powerful acceleration, high torque and lower CO2 emissions. Compared to a car with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with the same power output, fuel consumption was improved by approximately 30%, which means the reduction of fuel of 200 liters or CO2 emission of 267 kg annually*.
Specific technologies adopted are as follows:
    <Emissions Reduction Technology>
Complies with the new emission regulation, "Post New Long-term Regulations", starting in October 2009.

    • 1600 bar common rail system
    • Double swirl port
    • EGR cooler
    • Diesel particulate filter (DPF)
    • Lean NOx-trap catalysts (LNT)

    <Noise and Vibration Reduction Technology>
Adopted as measures against noise and vibration, the disadvantages of the current diesel engine.

    • Piezo injector
    • Balancer shaft

Nissan received this award for second consecutive year, followed by its eco-driving service available on CARWINGS navigation system awarded last year. X-TRAIL 20GT has also been awarded the 2008 Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Prize in the Eco-Products Division of the 2008 Eco-Products Awards.
Under the Nissan Green Program 2010 mid-term environmental plan, the company aims to develop and introduce new technologies, products and services that lead to real-world reductions in CO2 emissions, cleaner emissions to preserve the air, water, and soil, and recycling of resources.
    * Annual total mileage:9,807km (Report by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), converted in 10-15 mode.

i hope totoo ito... they should release the Rogue here kasi napagiiwanan na ang Nissan sa sales. Back in the 90's, hawak ng Nissan ang Utility Vehicle market that was nominated by the Nissan Power Pickups, the Frontier and the Patrol. Now, aged na lahat ng models ng Nissan. Only the Livina and Navara are 'fresh' models.

Mitsu is reigning with the Montero and Strada lineup. Toyota still has a good market share with the IMV lineup (Fortuner, Innova and Hilux). Mazda has released the CX-7. Hyundai will also release the Tucson ix30 early next year. What about Nissan?
