as asked....by a "would be" newbie

how hard it is? is having a background in bicycle driving helps in driving a scooter?

as a would be 1st time MC driver, aside from getting a scooter, woul be an underbone with automatic clutch or with a hand clutch be easy enough for me to handle..

would a 100cc scoot / underbone carry me around despite the fact i weigh as much as the scoot/underbone itself? or better yet i'll get a 125 or 150cc?

what can you suggest i'll get? parang maganda yung yama x1 or sniper...ok din ba ang raider? or just stick to the common wave and xrm nalang...

you should definitely know how to ride a bicycle to be able to learn how to drive an MC. both have two wheels so you should know how to balance it while it is moving. learning the bicycle, imho, is easier because it is lighter though you have to power it urself for it to move.

so to answer the 1st question, driving an MC is similar to riding a bicycle. if it is easy for you to ride the bicycle, it would probably also easy for you to drive the MC.

automatic clutch is more convenient and probably easier to drive for newbies like us. although if you know how to drive a manual transmission car, you'll have an idea how to drive an MC with hand clutch. konting adjustment lang sa coordination ng left and right hand.

i've seen a lot of big people abusing small scooters without them encountering any problems with their scoot.

if a 150cc business type MC can haul a metal side car with at least 5 people inside (ganyan sito sa province) plus some baggages from the public market, i dont see any problem in a 100cc scoot carrrying a giant. :d

i have a wave 125 kasi sa honda dealer nag work kumpare ko. pero based sa looks, ok din yung raider (mukang pormado na). ok din yung yamaha kasi mejo iba siya sa generic look ng scooter ngayon. raider and yamaha MC, i heard are more expensive than honda.

afaik, xrm and raider have hand clutches.

buti na lang. i know nothing about quads. :D

of course...background in bicycle driving is really a great help in driving a motorized bike. the balance is already there.

the best way for a newbie is to have a scooter for his first bike. just twist and go. pag medyo di ka na nalilito pwede ka na sa may manual clutch. kung nahihirapan ka pa rin, sa automatic clutch ka muna. but, if you have all the guts you can go straight for a manual clutch kahit first time mo pa lang mag-bike...off course you need a good teacher!

100cc is more than enough to carry you!

dont go for a raider 150 (the one with manual clutch) mahirap dalhin to para sa mga baguhan! this is a very powerful bike, mind you!

    quad is for off-road.

It's best to start with a simple bike, like a Honda Wave with the automatic clutch... and it'll be slow enough to allow you to become acclimatized with scooter riding.

Bigger bikes, in the 125-150cc range, like the XRM or Raider, aren't especially difficult to ride, given some practice, but the speeds such bikes as the Raider are capable of (compared to your regular 60-80 km/h scooter, 120-140 km/h is scorching...) are dangerous for reckless and inexperienced riders. Personally, I can't see myself using the Raider's full revs (11,000 rpm plus, dear Lord) anywhere but on a deserted six-lane wide road. Driving a sequential manual like the Raider's isn't difficult if you understand how a clutch works... it just takes a little practice to learn how to use the hand clutch and foot-shifter.

I'm not a regular rider myself (I ride, like... once every six months?), but I have no problem getting on an automatic scoot and getting on the road... you just have to careful and mindful of the traffic around you.

malakas talaga ang raider 150. iiwanan nito ang honda cbr150 sa drag race or even a 2.5 pajero. for a first timer di madali dalhin to...but since you can drive a cage you know the principle of clutching...but never forget...sa 4 wheels wala kang tumba...sa bike...oh no!

big bikes are heavy. kung maikli at di ganun kalakas ang paa mo baka di mo kakayanin.

may mga bikes na may tacho na...you can install aftermarkets dun sa wala.mahirap yun tingin ng tingin sa tacho...even a small stone on the road can cause you catastrophe...

teka, wala bang underbone na may malaki-laking cubby hole?? or scooters/big scooters lang may privilage of space?

A Raider is just heavy enough to require some getting used to, compared to a regular 50cc or 100cc scoot, but it's no biggie. And it's not hard to drive... the Raider's power only kicks in hard after about 5000 or 6000 rpm, and if you're a newbie, you'll probably be shifting gingerly at 3000 or so... at which point, it is still good mannered.

You should decide first wether you gonna go the underbone route, scooter, moto or big bike..

Personally for a newbie i would suggest trying out a "small scooter" mala honda dio... mura lang naman mga ito, masarap gamitn pag jan jan lang.. tsaka mo marealize kung gusto mo pa ng more power... kung malaki/malapd na tao, again i would personally suggest a maxi scoot, dink, joyride, X9, majesty etc.. ONLY if you think that twist and go operation is more to your liking. Others kasi want a more controlled handling kaya gusto nila manual transmission..

Anyway, pag sawa ka na sa small scoot marealize mo na rin if you wanna upgrade to motocross, bigbikes or fast underbones.

safety tip... upgrade your skills first before upgrading to bigger displacements. Some people want to go big CC's fast.. only to realize they cannot handle em the way they are intended for.. mas masaya pa sila sa smaller displacements.

i am no expert in MCs but i think things are different in a riders eyes

since youve been a cager and basically knows the principle of clutching or MT yakang yaka mo na manual clutch na MC same principles are used medyo kailngan mo lng maging accustomed sa parts ng mc like

your hands will be the ones to be used to make the shift work..

    Well
ako siguro iba...i advice you to start sa manual..parang sa auto kpag maruniong ka mag MT sisiw na AT...

Plus believe me the need for speed and a higher displacement bike will sink in as soon as youve learned...

Regarding in choosing your bike..choose a bike that will suit your needs...

and Raider well kaya unti meron not because it is powerful and mhrap dalhin....Main reason is MAHAL siya for a UB it will cost you around 90k more or less....

pero mind you tama sla raider R150 or raider jr are really powerful bikes...

Regarding sa gs2 mong bikes Sniper ba un At X1
both are REALLY gOOd bikes as in smooth na smooth...

LAstLy AND the MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL

When riding any MC may it be a scoot or a big bike...WEAR A GOOD HELMEt and weaR Protective gear ride safe xmpre..

Pero xmpre ride at your own pace..

UUnga pla un wave, xrm my ubox or compartment kasya half face helmet at sapatos at maliit na anik anik...heheheh

well some may not agree with my opinion..
    IMHO lng aman ito....

tpos alam ko my honda riding academy...enroll ka dun if you want..heheh

we could assist you ...Dun lahat nag momotot...hehehe

plus the highr CC more power...more gas...heheh

un nga,e.. well, after looking at some models, parang type ko yung nuovo--mas malaki compartment, scooter-type na UB..full auto ika nga. malaki pa headlight.

gwapo at maangas kasi ang raider..tama ka dun mahal nga raider for a UB--unlike wave and xrm...

ok kaya nouvo or mio na ganito:

ok pareho, pero mas type ko mio. cute kasi afaik meron labas ang sym or kymco a lot cheaper than mio.

  14. #14
tibay ba yung kymco and/or SYM--yamaha kasi e, may pangalan..mahal lang daw piyesa ng yamaha,e...(totoo ba yun)

(nakow parang toyota, honda, mitsubishi vs chery, hyundai, kia, deawoo...este..chevrolet pala)

after watching american chopper kanina, ok naman pala scooter,a--kaya naman pala pang malayuan at di naman pala ganun kasagwa tignan pag sinakyan na...knowing na mas malaking tao sila than me..

Di naman mahal ang parts ng yamaha. It's a durable scooter and you can't go wrong with nouvo or Mio 3. I suggest that you get a new Nouvo Z or Mio 3 pero walang mio 3 sa Norkis. Nouvo Z lang meron ang price nya is around 72K while mio 3 is around 83k (gray market kase yan). They shared the same engine 115cc 4-stroke. Kayang mag top speed ng 100 km/h nyan in stock form. Ang pagkakaiba lang nila ay :

    NOUVO Z :
    - 16 inch ang tires
    - hindi flat ang flooring
    - mas malaki ito kesa mio

    MIO 3
    - 14 inch ang tires
    - flat flooring
    - mas maliit kesa nouvo

For endurance, No problem with both scoot and you can bring and drive this as far as you can. with an average fuel consumption of 40-45 kms per liter.

NOUVO Z is my personal choice.

    or nouvo Z nalang ako?

Batibay sir ang belt nyan, di yan basta-basta bumibigay for at least 10k kms siguro.

i used to be a mountain biker. and imho, driving a scooter is different from riding a bike.

with an automatic clutch, i think it would be easy, but it would be different from something with a hand clutch.

would a 100cc scoot / underbone carry me around despite the fact i weigh as much as the scoot/underbone itself? or better yet i'll get a 125 or 150cc?

where would you use it bro? as much as possible, get the 150 cc na. halos pareho din naman ang costs, but you would appreciate the additional HP.

what can you suggest i'll get? parang maganda yung yama x1 or sniper...ok din ba ang raider? or just stick to the common wave and xrm nalang...

if you are getting this, magkano budget mo? i would suggest a vespa. very easy to handle and drive.

    salamats...
    see my replies above bro.

if you are a beginner bro, i would suggest that you get a lighter one muna which is very easy to drive. don't go the the sports type look first. kaya nga i suggested getting a vespa dahil upright ang driving position, tapos automatic clutch.

and don't forget about safety bro. wear your helmet, and if you can afford it, go for the body vests and knee/leg protectors.

when i made the transition from a mountain bike to a MC, i started muna sa maliliit until may nagkaroon na ako ng confidence.

from a Vespa 125 cc, i got a 400 cc GSX-R which i use in going to work occassionally. now i am thinking of selling my 400 cc to get a 1000 cc.

Yes, a bicycle backround is really a great help…. In my experience, pinara-rampa ko yung bmx ko or even without front wheel for several hundred meters nung teenager ako then binilan kami ng honda 50cc with auto clutch, kayang kaya, maninibago ka lang sa speed compared sa de pedal ika nga.

nakabili si erpat ng BMW R-50 from actor Dante Rivero in the 70s. ito ang pinanghinayangan naming ng kuya ko dahil kung meron ka pa nito ngayon eh ibang klase! comedian chiquito and eddie garcia ang ilan sa mga meron nito noon..

ang problema lahat ng kaibigan ni erpat (he used to work in Sampaguita Pictures) sa pelikula like si Eddie Garcia na namatay (nasunog ang anak sa mc) ito ang sinabi: “Naku ibenta mo na yan, baka abutan pa ng anak mo yan eh magsisi ka” kaya eto bawal na ang motor sa min…

doble or triple ingat lang pagdating sa mc.

  20. #20

what is and how hard to drive your 1st MC?
