A Vespa dealer opened here in our area and they have a promo for the LX150ie at P 99k for the first 99 buyers. Searched the net and found that this promo has been since last year, the new dealer Granstar has considerably lower Vespa prices, the units are made in Vietnam, etc. The wife likes the 'vintage' look of the Vespa and said if we are going to have a scooter it would only be Vespa. I've looked at the prices of the other availble scooters and they range at P 60-75k, so the difference can be as big as P 30k. There are a lot of other scooters available:

    Yamaha Mio, Nuovo
    Honda Beat, Scoopy
    Suzuki Sydrive, Hayate
    Kymco Super 8, Agility, Like

The use would be mostly for leisure, short rides, with the occasional long trips with the wife (my most anticipated use).

I'd like to have some comments from those with real world experiences, and it would be great if those who've ridden the LX 150ie can share how the ride is.

    I'm interested in:
    1. Comfort
    2. Driveability/maneuverability
    3. Actual fuel consumption
    4. Maintenance
    5. Service (dealers, parts)

    Thanks.

its 150 cc and efi... i think its worth the extra 30k. the other scooters you mentioned are either 125cc or lower only, and non efi.

plus you loved the looks of the vespa.

you can try motorcyclephilippines.com for more feedbacks from actual owners.

efi = electronic fuel injection vs. carburator type engine ng majority ng scooters dito sa atin.

as for price, Vespa is a premium italian brand kaya medyo mahal.

Thanks guys, I am just wondering if there's a big difference with other scooters in terms of ride and control.

Vespa is a premium brand alright but most of them, at least in this part of the world, are already outsourced. Not built in Italy.

But it's nice to have one. Better than those China-made ones like the Neco Abruzzi.

Obviously, they have expensive parts. And maintenance may be problematic if you're fat from the dealership.

Thanks, yep I've read that these are made in Vietnam. Not really an issue for me, as manufacturers really go where the costs are low.

for me ganda sana ng lx150 kaya lang pang chikas yung dating, reminiscent ng et 8 model nila na parang barbie moped.
    pero vespa eh, why not?
at mag px 150 na lang kayo.

To the Vespa owners, how do you maintain your scooters, DIY or the dealers? How are the dealers, do you know of any in Laguna? How's the cost of the regular maintenance parts, like oil and air filter, battery, spark plugs, tires, etc. thanks.

The px150 is nicer but is manual transmission with the shifter on the handlebar so that may be awkward for some. Cost-wise, it costs almost double the lx150. The px150 has a more classic look though and packs a spare tyre. I was choosing between the two before and decided to go with the lx150 due to cost and ease of use.

why not try the new mio 125fi? its 125cc, watercooled and efi as well. plus parts are abundant, you can compare it with the vios in terms of parts, you can also change the tire of the mio and get rid of the interior, go tubeless, that way even if a thorn pricks the tires it could still run to the nearest vulcanizing shop.

and the cost of maintenance varies according to model, age and rarity of the scooter.
and kahit na vietnam, indian made yan. italiano pa rin ang puso at kaluluwa niyan kaya may kamahalan pa rin ang piyesa niyan.

I have vespa lx150ie . running for almost 6,000 kms now and I dont do other maintenance but the the oil change.

Vespa oil change is only every 6k kms but it needs to have an expensive full syn oil + oil filter. total cost will be around 3k pesos if you follow the 1.1L engine oil. But 1L will do + oil filter, you have to pay 2k+ pesos.

The Little vespa is fun to ride in city and fuel efficient too.

Ride with Style ... Ride the VESPA !

If you're in Laguna, there is a dealership at Nuvali. For maintenance, they will send a mechanic to your house whenever you need service so you don't have to bring it over to them.
