hirap maghanap ng pajero 2006 model-up na pasok sa budget namin. saw an FM within the budget pero it was immediately sold after we called.

It may be worth paying the extra for a local turbodiesel... but if the Montero is genuinely from the US and not a RHD conversion, then go ahead.
But just a minute? What is the price, and what Montero, specifically? The box-type they sold here till 2006, or the one that's the same as the new-body Pajero? Because if it's not the one that looks like the new Pajero, then it's not a 2006.

Sir Niky, I think the TS is eyeing for the Gen3/Gen3.5 Pajero (Montero). Alang Gen. 4 sa US. Yung FS sa atin, phased out na since 1999 pa.
The engine is a 3.8L V6 which gives you 5 km/l in the city. The Diesel will give you 6 km/l. Not that far away.iam3739.com

I've ridden the previous-generation (pre-facelift) unibody V6... good car... lots of torque, decent handling.
So they only got the ladder-frames ba?
