The 2011 Montero Sport has just arrived on our shore (in port). Although it has not been officially announced yet; with information accrued from forum members (via SA) and our insiders we have an almost completed picture.

This is the stuff of 2.5L 178 hp vgt engines, and 5 speed autos, of 350Nm to 400Nm of torque, the engine and gearbox we have been crying out for.

Paddle gear change for those who like some heated driving (or just to show off) is also available.

Traction control together with stability (for the snow in winter) - not confirmed yet (the stability or the snow).

This thread is a continuation of the 2010 MY latter thread posts (which has sort of unintentionally been hijacked by us)

Therefore I would like you to post on the 2011 model here rather than on the 2010 model year thread.

    Salamat.

This should be merged with the existing thread and the thread title should be changed to "2nd Gen. Mitsubishi Montero Sport thread"

The photos here are of the 2011 4x4 gls se variant with vgt. It would be great if somebody can confirm that these changes will be applied to the gls variants as well.

As for vgt in all GLS's, according to my SA yes, he is 99% sure it will be. He said he will email me all the specs early next week.

The official press testing day is on the 18th of next month.

That is some 4 weeks away, but I would expect some of us will have delivery before then.

Thanks for the reply. I just spoke with my sales agent. He said they are expecting units within february. Thanks to this thread, I was able to convert my reservation deposit to the new upcoming model.

mga sirs... eto na final spec ng 2011 montero se:
variant will be called montero sport GT-V 4WD AT

Engine: 4D56 2.5 turbocharged and intercooled dsl
    Max Power: 178HP/4000rpm
    Max Torque:350Nm/1800 - 3500rpm
Turbocharger: Variable Geometry Turbo (developed by IHI)

key spec changes for the Montero GT-V:
    • 4speed INVECS II AT to 5speed INVECS II AT
    • new front grille w/ GTV emblem (Honeycomb)
    • paddle shifters
    • 3-MID system w/ touch screen interface NAVI system, integrated audio functions, DVD playback, iPod, USB, Bluetooth (AVT)
    • carbon fiber rear spoiler
    • tail pipe finisher

di po pwede ilagay ang VGT sa present Monteros kasi you also have to replace some of the internals. It now uses high strength bearing caps and high strength aluminum alloy pistons, thinner piston rings to accomodate the cooling cavity and high load small and big end con rod bearings

price... wala pa official from the plant, although may isang dealer who is quoting the 4x2 AT*1.408M. both 4x4 AT and 4x2 AT have the VGT engine.

units... is already here but it still has to wait until the Feb 24 launching. price will be announced then. same color availability, no introduction of new colors.

+1 interested if the 4x2 mt will also be vgt powered...

Yes, locoroco777, Sir Expatio is correct. i thought you knew all along. the torque rating for M/T and A/T are different only that probably MMC engineers can explain. you can even see that on the international brochure that i posted on the TSCP's fb page...
