    hello!

my mechanic suggested that the turbo of my gen 2 pajero (4D56 TDIC) needs to be cleaned... as well as the intercooler. Umuungol na daw yung sound...

have you guys had your turbo's serviced?? where could i have this done??? how much would this cost??

    TIA

Hmmm. I have friends that have turbo-diesel engines on their rides pero I've yet to hear one being cleaned though.

my mechanic suggested it upon removing the large hose on top of it, maitim na daw masyado langis dun at maungol na yung sound ng turbo.. he says even the intercooler needs to be flushed...

he's charging me 3k for the job, i think they are competent naman because linya nila ang motor racing, they'be been modifying turbo engines for a long time...

anyway, cleaning lang naman daw ang gagawin sakin, also i see a lot of turbo specialist along A. bonifacio but i have heard some horror stories about the job quality about some shops there....

also i've read in the other threads that a problem in the turbo may cause a diesel engine to exhaust excessive black smoke, which i experience now during hard acceleration, even if the fuel system is calibrated....

i hope other tsikoteers would share their experience on this task....

i don't think a turbo needs to be cleaned....i think as long as it spins, it's ok, right..

I'm not sure if they have it already, but I read about turbo servicing in Betan's Calibration's website.

v22: if your mechanic's experienced with racing and esp with turbos, then go with him, yun lang, *IF* you can find another guy with the same qualifications/skills as the first one but cheaper, edi mas ok ;)

i haven't had the turbo serviced yet, pero signs that the turbo needs service is maraming oil inside the compressor housing when you take off the hoses from the air intake and to the intake ng intercooler.
