I've used Bosch, ViC, and OEM (pinopromo nila yan ng Php 500.00/ea). I've not used any brand kaya no experience din.
Btw, I've had the unit since 2001. Have not replaced the glowplugs, tranny support, no calibration, no overhaul.
Stuff I have replaced:
*Front suspension rebuild sometime 2002
*Suspension lift around 2004
*Bigger wheels and tires
My ride is basically a 'drive and forget' affair.

Parang pareho lang for me. I just like Castrol more.

sir,
gear oils usually mga every 2years ang palit. so does with power steering oils and automatic transmission oils.
here is a sample of my maintenance:
Gen1 pajero:
oil change- every 3th km. use ordinary oils ang vic oil filters
air filter-washable kaya never replaced
fuel filter-replace it yearly (vic lang)
power steering, transmission atf (matic), rear diff gear oil, brake fluids- replace it yearly
idler arm- yearly replacement (kasi naka sus lift on 33in tires. dali masira) 555 lang gamit ko
tie rod, ball joints- replaced it once lang. used the pajero 4years
pitman arm- never
greasing of all grease fittings (suspension and propeller)- once a year
clean brakes every 5th km
clean the intercooler and hoses once a year
engine supports- replaced it once lang
like i always say... oil is cheaper than replacing the parts....
my 2 cents...

Glow plugs: 4D56 1k+; 4M40 P300+. All the more reason to get the 4M40 hehehe.
Fuel filter nasa 1000+ yung orig. di pa ako nagpapalit for my current ride.
Gear oil nasa 1200 ata palit for FR/RR/Transfer; as needed lang replacement.

January 13th, 2006 05:26 PM #16Thanks. Hindi naman pala ganon kamahal as people perceive it to be. Pag 10 years old na ba Pajero ok pa rin?

generally ok naman. pero afaik, 4D56 engines lasts around 200th km bago overhaul. i used to own a 1990 gen1 pajero. total mileage niya before i sold it was 105th. got it at around 76th.
engine and injection pump was still is in original state.
btw, what pajero are you planning to buy? local or imported? year model?

January 13th, 2006 05:46 PM #18yun sakin going 13 years na no major problem am spending same thing for PMS and front suspension replacement ,brakes, etc....
tama lahat mga posters sa presyo
bear in mind when & if you get ur ride factor mo nasa sa purchase cost ang whatever PMS checkup/eval/estimate na sa casa mo na pagawa unless kakilala mo yung binilhan mo talaga and he shows you casa maintained documentation
why?
so you get their opinion on what has to be relplaced etc...or bring it to a good mechanic...our resident pajero expert comes to mind.... para lang may checlist ka of what to replace, check etc..
you have to slowly and wisely spend to get to point na ride and forget na ang ride mo

Is Castrol CRD better than Delo Gold Multigrade? Any Opinion did you try Delo Gold Already in your Pajero.
as the experts says...pareho lang siguro yun but i also prefer CASTROL CRD.
Guys, any input or advise what might be the problem on my ride, kapag nag-shift na siya ng 3rd gear to 4th.... bumabalik sya sa third and pag- nag accelerate ka ganun parin hanggang ma-reach nya yung peak. Notice this one when im running 80 - 100kph.Last edited by Pajoz; January 13th, 2006 at 11:16 PM.

things that i've one with my subic 96 pajero;
1. changed timing belt and water pump (strongly suggested kasi) since i got mine at 100T kms already!
2. the usual change oil and ATF..
3. had the suspension parts repaired at ZEE, cost was 5k
4. replaced 4 nozzle tips on the injectors, cost was 3k
btw, what brand is the washable air filter?? where and how much is it?? tia!
Without more context like when was the last time these items were serviced/replaced, it's hard to...
