I want to change my 4G54(2.6L)Gas Engine with a 4M40 engine. How much would it cost for the whole installation? I want a 4x4 Automatic Transmission.

at least 100k pa ang 4m40 with tranny. I think masyadong mahal. Konti pa lang dumarating. Yung 4d56 nasa 50-60k. One more thing yung mga 2.8 na naka matic around 5 km/liter ang gas consumption!
5km/l? gastos din pla... prang not worth it. ang hina kasi nung 4g54 eh
I'd like to refute this sir Gary... mine does 6+/- km/L in the worst of manila's traffic. Normally 6.8 to 7.2 ang konsumo. Kung sa alabang pa ako nagtatrabaho (highway driven), i think mas matipid ma ito sa 4D56.Originally Posted by garyq

i dunno why but yung local na 4m40 is really doing 7-8 km/l. Yung JDM version magastos talaga. Ilan ng friends ko nagsabi nito. The worst is a friend doing only 4 km/ltr. Yung big horn ko before was doing 5-6 km/ltr but it's a 3.1L engine na matic.

This is a very old thread na yata, kasing tanda na nung Pajero ko.. Anyway, I just want to ask kung meron pang ibang nakapag palit na from 4G54 engine to 4M40. I want to upgrade my engine para I can use my Pajero more often. 4.5km/liter kasi ang consumption.
May available na ba na mga 4M40 engines, and magkano kaya?
I did it with my GLX Pajero Gen2. The engine cost is 120K including the tranny but I did not use the tranny. Change only the engine. Labor cost is 5K. This was 3years ago. Walang conversion bolt on. We started 8am finish around 4pm running na. Simple parts nalang the next day. BTW kelangan mo ng Air Filter at yong housing nya plus yong hose connecting to the turbo. Hose ba tawag don?
PS Fuel filter pala kelangan mo din pang diesel.
Thanks for the reply... may nagbabasa pa pala nung thread. Anyway, do you know where I can get a 4M40 engine or a good gasoline engine compatible with my 4x4 transmission?
7-8 km/l is probably pure city driving. i'm contemplating din kasi of changing my engine to 4m40. but i like the manual tranny.
hey beatles, replied to your pm already.
my 4M40 swap was my project in 2001. however, i purposely installed a manual transmission mainly due to personal preference. it has an open type K&N filter and a TurboSmart manual boost controller and analogue boost guage. so far, I'm pretty happy with it as it serves as our daily drive. i'll probably install a water/methanol injection pump in the air induction system which I bought in ebay two years ago.
