First of all, I would like to congratulate Carlos Sainz for winning the Central European Rally and Peterhansel for placing 2nd.

I never knew it until today that the some MPR14's used in the Central European Rally were Diesel powered. It seems the Mitsubishi Press release wants to keep this a surprise to the fans.

It is still, however, a race car engine. But if Mitsubishi has been planning to build road-going versions of the Pajero Evolution someday. There's a light for this engine to hit the streets or maybe for the next generation Pajero.

All hail to the V6 DiD Diesel from Mitsubishi! I don't know the engine code yet but I am guessing it'll be called the 4M42.

    Gasoline version above.

    SPECIFICATIONS:
    190kW (260 PS) 650Nm (66.3 kgfm)
    2997cc
    V6 Common Rail Diesel
    More specs: http://www.mitsubishi-dakar.com/global/pajero_evolution

    *AG4,
You might find the picture of the engine. Please post it here. Thanks!

aba galing neto ah talo pa makina ng navara pero it is not for roads naman dba? 650nm of torque grabeh na sya siguro kung ipapasok to ng mitsu sa isa sa mga models nila, ireretune nila to like what they did with the 4m41 from pajero to strada. i think 650nm would be for a race car only. even 380nm is enough. imo

katapat nito ang 3.0L V6s ng Vera Cruz at X5 but is surpassed in power.

260ps(256hp) vs 240hp for the VC and 235hp for the X5.

*drey- good work there! i would just like to add something...

i think the proper name for this engine will be 6M10 or 6D10- this is the first time mitsu created a diesel V6. If the Veracruz is coming with this engine in the US market, Mitsu is following suit! Let it be known that MMC always has their way of naming engines.

it was noted that, MMC developed a 4.0 V6 gas engine (presumably named as 6G76) for the Pajero * dakar last year. i have a strong feeling that this is an uprated version of the already expanded 3.8 V6 6G75 from its basic form- the 2.5 V6 6G72- it will take years for us to see if MMC will expand the lightweight and more efficient Outlander global series engine (6B31)

I predict that the 3.0 Di-D V6 and the 4.0 V6 will make its way on the 5th Generation Pajero come 2010. by that time, the SUV would have expanded in size- again!

I am just dreaming Mitsubishi would enter the utilitarian 4x4 market. Possibly a Grand Pajero? The size of a Land Cruiser 200 with that V6 engine. Plus the electronic aids of Mitsubishi. Order basis for Full Solid Axles version and stuff like that.

It's good to know it will rock Middle East, Australia, and other countries that desperately needs a 4x4.

Also if they could offer something like MIEV for the Pajero. That's something.

    *ian,
Yeah... 6M10 would be the ideal code. 6 for six cylinders.

Btw, the MPR14 Diesel is still not as powerful than that of the Touareg. The T2 Touareg has 285hp under its hood from a 2.5L engine. Dunno about the torque though.

Take the Lancer Evolution VIII; in stock form, it was available with 280PS (276hp/206kW). But special modifications by UK tuning firms have been able to squeeze as much as 302.13 kW (405.2 hp) out of the Evo VIII FQ400, from the base 400hp (298kW).
