yah i know engine breaking but thats is not the case, ill try to observed more regarding speed

our everyday route usually goes like this. start, slowly drive off to our destination, spirited driving while in the highway, stop and go driving in busy streets, then on our way home another stop and go driving in busy streets, finally before we reach our house we slow down, we wait for the maid to open the gate or otherwise we go out of the vehicle to open the gate ourselves.

from the above normal driving conditions, it seems that the only way the turbo operates is when we do spirited driving in the highway and sometimes during stop and go driving in edsa. on occassions that we are on busy streets, we usually drive at a crawl. at the front of our gates, we let our engines run on idle.

to cut the story short, we unconsciously become human turbo timer ourselves so that the installation of an electronic turbo timer seems to be not that critical or essential.

    just my 02 cents.

Good point... But I do think that Turbo Timer can really be worth it. Take for example during a long drive but you saw a Jollibee or McDo sign from afar in SLEX. Then you kinda imagined the food - you got hungry - you have to stop to eat! hehehe... You can't just turn the engine off because the turbo hasn't cool down yet. Don't punish yourself by salivating inside the car just because you're in front of a restaurant and you really want to eat now.

From Butch Gamboa's online column at the Philippine Star yesterday:

    Mitsubishi Strada maintains dominance
Our friends from (MMPC) Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, avp for marketing services Froy Dytianquin and his very able deputy Arlan Reyes were all excited to pass on to me the news that the Mitsubishi Strada continues to dominate the double cab pick-up sales with a total year-to-date sales of 1,998 units or a whopping 24% market share.

According to them this may not just be on account of the Strada’s good looks, engine performance (strong yet economical Direct Injection Diesel Common Rail Intercooled Turbo), its biggest cabin space in its class and other leading features, it also boasts of having the distinction of being the safest pick-up in the market. The Strada scored a respectable 4-stars out of 5 in the Adult Occupant Protection category of both the 2008 European New Car Assesment Program or the Euro NCAP and its Australian counterpart the ANCAP. In this category, vehicles are tested to check if there is no passenger intrusion in the cabin after a frontal and side collision.

Now we know why MMPC senior VP for marketing, Mel Dizon walks with an almost permanent smile on his face.

Correct po yan sir. due to the abundance of low-end torque.

*jr1, the GLS Sport M/T and A/T are the only models in the present line-up that have the ABS+EBD available.

*rjm00, considering that the 4D56 is already considered torquey, you might want to consider the 2.5 GLS 4x4 model. But if you need more power than the usual, then you can go for the 3.2 GLS Sport 4x4.

    *av8or5- happy trip bro!

This is also an additional information why I love my new strada

Quoted from Journal online dated October 30, 2008 03:08 PM Thursday.
    It says:

Strada stays as No.1 in pickup category
PICKUP sales continue to be strong as total sales for the month of September reached 925 units which is 12 percent better than August sales. Accordingly, September year-to-date sales now reached 8,431 units which is 41 percent up from the same period last year.

Similar to Thailand, which is the 1-ton pickup capital of the world, pickups particularly double cabs, remain to be popular in this market given its wide range of use whether as an everyday vehicle or for business. Additionally, the new generation pickups have evolve with more advanced features such as powerful common-rail direct-injection diesel engines and safety equipment), better riding comfort, and offer more room for passengers similar to sedans and SUVs.

Mitsubishi Strada continues to dominate the double cab pickup sales with total sales of 1,998 units year to date capturing 24 percent market share, outshining competitive models.

With its fresh and exciting styling, superb running performance, best in class cabin roominess, a comfortable ride and SUV-like interior styling and trim, who will not envy anyone who drives a Mitsubishi Strada?

From the hip and dynamic teens to the classy, young businessmen down to the not so old professionals and those who want to create a statement of fulfillment and almost everyone would love to own a Mitsubishi Strada. The Mitsubishi Strada has captured all ages in the market.

The all-new Strada was built not just as a pickup but also as an everyday work horse vehicle for business, family and recreation. It has the biggest cabin space in its class, passenger car levels of performance, road comfort and handling gives Strada the edge over the competition.

The Strada has strong yet economical direct-injection common-rail intercooled turbo diesel engine which ensures optimum power at all engine speds while providing excellent fuel economy and greatly reducing gas emission through efficient fuel injection. With these features complemented with a gorgeous styling which always gets attention, a car enthusiast would indeed crave to own and drive one. Driving one will also let you experience endless road pleasures.

The Strada is also beyond just good looks but also boasts of having the distinction of being the safest pickup in the market. The Strada scored a respectable 4 stars out of 5 in the Adult Occupant Protection category of both the 2008 European New Car Assessment Program or the Euro NCAP and its Australian counterpart, the ANCAP. In this category, vehicles are tested to check if there is no passenger intrusion in the cabin after a frontal and side collision.

Mitsubishi’s exclusive Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body and frame system greatly enhanced the survivability of its occupants. The RISE frame incorporates front and rear crumple zones with reinforced beams to absorb collision force and direct it away from the vehicle’s interior. Aside from the RISE body, the Strada has dual-stage front SRS airbags and seat belt pretensioners that react instantaneously in the event of a frontal collision and these greatly reduce the chance of passengers being slumped into the steering wheel or dashboard.

the first GLS came with this feature, but your right...only the top of the line Strada has ABS/EBD. they took it out sa GLS to save money and be more competitive with other markets.

today..came from mandaluyong to paranaque to alabang and back libis, and ang dami ko nakita strada sa daan... meron nga isang puti strada with hood scope ala the older version strada..but of course..asthetic lang yun and not functional..IMO, hindi bagay.

Although I'm not a GLX owner, sa pagkakaalam ko, the fender flares are just clipped and sticked-on to the fenders and no drilling to the body is required or done.

I observed my ride being installed the fender flares...its quite simple... no glue or double adhesive used. they just take out screws that holds the mud guard and part of inner wheel well, after taking the screws off, then they install the fender flare..then put back the original screws back into place...its that easy and safe and secure.

    No drilling required

    Hi everyone,

I've been lurking in these parts for the past month or so and I must say I find this place very helpful. As a backgrounder, I've always loved pickups. My old 1998 Pathfinder Pickup served me well (well not that well) during my farming & offroading days in Bukidnon. I've since moved back to Manila.

Obviously, I'm looking at getting the Strada (GLX) and I was hoping to ask for some quick advice as to what I should look for when test driving the delivered unit and common problems you've encountered and which dealership provided the best service overall. Yung Uneven stance, for example, how do I even check that?

In terms of allowable (under warranty) mods, are the following allowed:
    1. Change to Larger Rims and Tires (say 20 inch rims, since I don't plan to go offroading anymore)
    2. Replacing the stock headlights
    3. Getting the back of the truck bed lined with arma or rhino coat
    4. Installing a roll-top cover

Thanks and sorry for the long post. Excited to join one your future EB's if I do end up getting my Strada

Hi sir and welcome to the thread. about what to check, it was already discussed a few pages back, kindly backread one or two pages.

Now for #1, if you get it from the dealer, they will warranty your suspension if you get 20" rims, but if outside, definitely void na, or what people do is everytime they get their PMS, they put back their orig mags.
#2 as long as within the specs, you chang change the headlights to a better and brighter one, just check the wattage output so as not to burn the wires and sockets.
#3, i think that would just be additional protection.
#4, a lot of people have installed roll top covers, so no problem. just get it at carryboy.they have the motorised roll-up bed cover.

    others might have insights.

In the picture attached here, what size rims are those? Also, since I've always had my pickups before set up for muddy trails, how will shifting to 20-inch rims and the tires required affect the ride and FC?
