Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. announced a special inspection recall for select Mitsubishi Strada pickup trucks and Mitsubishi Montero Sport SUV.

Vehicles involved in the recall are Strada units sold from September 2006 to June 2009 and Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3.2 GLS and GLS SE 4x4 AT models sold from September 2008 to February 2009.

"The special inspection recall is to check the proper tightening torque of the mounting bolts of the upper suspension arm," Mitsubishi said in a statement. "The reason for the insufficient initial tightening torque could be caused by possible misaligned holes of the two metal sheets of the front upper arm."

Had mine checked at diamond C5 this morning. Re tightening of bolts & nuts were done plus front suspension check.. the inspection took almost 2hrs.. No parts were replaced as this is only an INSPECTION RECALL not a TOTAL RECALL of a defective part or whatsoever..

Proof that MMC/MMTh/MMPC is doing something about it and there is no need to panic.

purchased my strada glx december 2007, since day one pa lang napansin ko na may problem suspension ko, halos pabalik balik yung strada ko sa mmpc cainta for almost 1 year pero hindi nila maayos ayos yung suspension problem(pati pala transmission problem). Dahil sa halos hindi ko na magamit dahil lagi na lang nasa planta ung unit ko, nabenta ko tuloy ng wala sa oras, admitted naman ng planta na may problem nga talaga pero hindi nila makita ung cause. mabuti naman at nakita na nila yung cause ng problem after 2 years. pero to be fair with the mmpc personnel ginawa naman nila lahat ng effort para lang maayos ung car and very accomodating naman, lalo na kay mr. Dave Doctor and mr. Joy incognito. si Joy pa mismo ang kumukuha at naghahatid ng unit ko sa bahay.

Atleast MMC is doing whatever they can to avoid this. And they did it early, unlike Toyota. heh.

Napaso na kasi Mitsubishi and take note hindi yung local na Mitsubishi pero yung Mitsubishi Japan themself! Dati back in 2000 or 2001 ata yun may mga suspension issues yung Pajero. Alam ng MMC na may problema, pero iwas sila sa recall by hiding it. Eventually the authorities found out and their chairman was charged and jailed...

Mitsu did a very good job. Atleast, they admitted their recall this time.. di tulad ng Toyota

Ayos, kudos to Mitsubishi, they're learning from their mistakes.
