parang expensive ang 10K km PMS mo bro, based on 10k KM pms sa kabilang forum ng montero, average expenses nila for that mileage is only 10 thousand pesos. Although I am nearing also to the 10k KM, I will try to get a cost estimate first to at least three car dealers and service center..JM2C..

Posted a query at the Royal Purple thread and speedyfix did replied that :

"this is because diesel engines take a long time to break in. and using synthetic oil will cause it to take even longer. the best time to use synthetic oil is when the engine is fully broken in na. " ..... " you want the breakin to be done as fast as possible so that the engine becomes efficient sooner. mineral oil with quick successions of oil changes is the best thing when a diesel engine is new"

So my questions ( I was not able to read it in the previous pages or I may have missed it) are:
    1. Whether the oil in our MS is synthetic or mineral when we brought it out of the dealership? (if its synthetic then I will just have to push with a synthetic)

    2. If the perceived "break in" period of the RP website for diesel engine is 8-10K miles presumably using mineral oil, does this hold true for the 4d56 or was the engine broken in prior to delivery to the dealership?

    3. Any recommended brands of mineral oil for our MS?

    Many Thanks!
    To answer your questions:

    1. The oil straight from the factory is mineral oil. I confirmed this with my SA in DMC-Fairview.
    2. I've also read that the FC of diesel engines improve as they go through their first 10-20T kms. I'm on my third full tank, and my FC has been improving from 9.2 to 9.9 and now 10.3 kms/Liter. I've been using Petron's Turbo Diesel, and the Rev-X All Terrain 5W-30 fully synthetic oil.
    3. So far, I'm very happy with the Rev-X All Terrain (BTW, it's the one of the cheapest). My engine is quieter, more responsive, and emits no black smoke whatsoever even in cold, morning starts.

pwede naman kahit semi synthetic ang gamitin basta change oil lang every 5000kms. tama ka sir, iba iba din mga casa, like in carworld marilao, before pwede ka magwatch habang inaayos yung oto mo, but now kelangan may kasama ka pa SA. buti na lang medyo okay yung SA kaya nakakapagwatch ako sa ginagawa sa oto ko

Hi EuroFD! your fuel consumption is very good. How did you calculate that and what's the driving condition?

    Thanks!

^tanch34: I always fill up my tank to the brim, then compute total KMS run divided by liters filled up. Always reset the odometer upon each full tank. My driving conditions are 80-85% city, major roads, medium to heavy traffic. HTH

EuroFD, I forgot to ask what model is your Montero and if its Manual or Automatic. Hope to hear from you.

    Thanks
