May 27th, 2007 03:30 AM #1461Im looking forward to getting the 1998 Pajero 2.8 Fieldmaster hopefully soon from my father ('hand-me down' from my dad, hehe)... Hanggan ngaun casa-maintained sya, so far wla naman problems, except recently there was a hard starting & if the engine started, you have to revv it up high to keep the engine running.. so parang turns out the battery was the problem (mga kanto boys, pinukpok un terminals ng battery to fit it snugy, instead of simply loosening). sO ngaun, ok na sya... and ive driven it only thrice.
So how much on average would a regular maintenance costs, if i buy the parts myself (i assume makaktipid ako since i can canvass from diffrent shops) ? and what shop would u suggest to go to, to have it installed and provide good routine & thorough checkup na din?
Napansin ko din kasi na, most of tsikoteers dont go anymore to casa for maintenance after the 3 year/100,000km warranty... Di ko din kaya un gastos for that especially for a non-working student like me

hi tool_46n2 baka 99 model pajero mo, kasi i think 99 pa lumabas yung 2.8. and 1 yr warranty lang tayo sa casa. yung mga newer cars lang ang 3 yrs. with regards sa hard staring problem mo. i dont think its the battery if you need to rev it after its started. mukhang injection pump (or it could be kulang sa maintenace like air and fuel filters. but like you said casa maintained kaya baka hindi ito ang problem), calibration lang katapat niyan. cost me 18k sa central diesel clinic.
with regards sa maintenance cost kung gagamit ka ng vic filters you will save alot. but choice ko parin orig pag filters. compare mo nalang orig oil filter na binibili ko ng 1600, sa vic filters only 500 lang. hth
wait mo reply ng resident pajero experts natin like pajerokid and sir otep. sa kanila lang ako natuto.

May 27th, 2007 01:43 PM #1463Thank you sa reply Promdiboy, i actually have read the whole topic from page1 last week, and i can say na marami ako natutunan from Paj owners & experts, hehe... Baka nga 1999 un Paj namin sorry, regarding sa naging problema nya nuon, im not really sure but nung pinalitan un battery naging ok na.
Regarding sa shops to have it maintaned, anong mga reputable shops around the metrona bihasa sa Pajeros or SUVs? of course sana un affordable at no hidden charges, & i could just buy the parts myself..
I have read about Mr. Atutubo, iniisip ko dun ko nalang sa kanya ipa-maintain if ever pero parang hardcore repair at un ginagawa nya esp for faulty subic pajeros.

hi there,
we have a 2002 Fieldmaster ... and while we have absolutely no problems with "her", we feel she is starting to showing her age .
we're still deciding on whether to keep her or trade her in for a new , younger , more modern and nubile version....
my questions :
the shocks have never been replaced ... i feel its time to replace them and may kaunting tagas na rin sa isa .
1.) what would the changes be if we replace all four with after market shocks with no sensors ?
any recommended brand/s ?
2.) where can we bring her to reduce her squeaks and rattles ( inside and underchassis ) ; replace some busted lamps inside the dash ;
3.) how much would it cost to give her a new paint job ?
4.) what's would be a fair asking price for her ? ( 75K kms , no upgrades/modifications )
thanks in advance

1. you can go with kyb, mura lang , mga 1k plus lang isa, so mga 5 to 6 k with kabit na, or you can go with the branded ones like rancho or bilstein, mga 3 to 5 k each.
2.dalhin mo sa mga shops who specialize in underchasis. suggestion ko, motorcraft sa banawe....look for robert. 414-8633, 711-3221.dalhin mo and iparinig mo yung squeeks, malalaman nila san n wat gagawin.
sa bulbs in the dash, dalhin mo nalang sa mga accessory shops. they can replace those bulbs. diy, pwede din...mura lang yan.
3.for a paint job that will lasts, atleast 40k yan, wag ka maniwala dun sa aalokin ka ng less than 20k, may daya na yan at baka 2 years lang ay babakbak na.
4.2002, 4x4 yan so if u wanntto sell it na, 9o0k to 1m fair na siguro....

June 5th, 2007 11:28 AM #1470i guess you can count me in as 1 more na naloko sa pagbili ng fieldmaster. hehehe. i'm getting my unit next week, yr2002. yes, after much debate, i decided to go with a 5yr old pajero vs. a plethora of (better?) options within my budget, from brand new to not-as-new cars and suv's. di ako nakinig sa iba sa inyo eh, ewan ko ba... hehehe. "brand" KO's "new" in the 12th and final round, i guess.
(by the way, if 1 human year is equivalent to 7 dog years, ano naman ang katumbas sa car years??? 10 car years? kasi baka lolo na nabili ko)
kidding aside, i'm more than happy with my decision. the pajero is going to haul the little kids (3, not all mine, 1 ay pamangkin) and the yayas to and from school, everyday, which is about 8kms back and forth from the house. so i think i may be needing 3rd row, front facing seats sa likod. can anyone point me to the right direction??? san ba meron nito at san pwede ipakabit???
it seems this company is slowly dying.... only service for Metro Manila will now be in Alabang only...
