Mitsubishi Motors Philippines recalls Galant

I read an article about the recall of Mitsubishi Galants here in RP. AFAIK remember, 97-98 Galants are affected by this recall. Its about wiring or what. Models are specified also in the article.

Recalls again? damn! Never ending na ata recalls nila. But I know MMC will get over with this.

MMPC announced the recall of 482 units of '98 Galants to replace the power transistor and connector for the air conditioner blower fan located under the glove box. The original connector may become loose when nudged and heat up resulting in the shutdown of the air conditioner blower fan motor. In the worst case the legs of the front passenger may get scalded by the heated connector. although there has been no reported occurence of blower fan connector overheating in the Philippines, MMPC was directed by Mitsu Motors Corp to conduct the recall locally. MMPC informed the office of secretary Juan B. Santos of the Department of Trade and Industry of the recall plan.

Mr. Kengo Takase, President and CEO of Mitsu Motors Philippines said that MMPC has already mobilized it's customer service department to trace the units from its customer data base. He said that all the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide have been alerted to replace the blower fan connectors and power transistor of the affected units completely FREE of charge. this procedure would take at most 2hrs to complete.

The 482 affected GALANT 2.0 Super Saloon and 2.5 VR models were identified to have the following SERIAL/CHASSIS NUMBERS:

1. Galant 2.5 VR A/T
- from PAEEA5ASRVA000001 to PAEEA5ASRVA000390 from Oct. '97 to Jan '00

2. Galant 2.0 SS A/T
- from PAEEA2ASRVA000001 to PAEEA2ASRVA000090 from Oct. '97 to Dec. '97

3. Galant 2.5 VR M/T
- from JMYSNEA5AVZ000106 Mar. '97

4. Galant 2.5 VR A/T
- from JMYSREA5AVZ000293 Mar. '97
