Mitsubishi Motors PH to recall Montero Sport, Strada models | Motoring | InterAksyon.com

The MMPC stated the the welding bead dimension of the front lower arm and the width of the welding bead between the tube and stub shaft might break while the vehicle is in use.

The coverage for the weld condition of the front lower arm are the 11,403 Montero Sport (2WD and 4WD) and 4,050 Strada (2WD and 4WD) units sold from 2011 to 2012 while for the front propeller shaft, 66 Montero Sport 4WD and 13 Strada 4WD units rolled out in 2012.

The inspection procedure for the front lower arm would likely to take less than two hours at the most and when needed, replacement of both front lower arms is estimated at around six hours, and welding bead between the tube and stub shaft might likely take 12 minutes at the most and when needed, replacement is estimated at 36 minutes.

The MMPC would also be checking the possible power-assisted reclining switch for the Montero, saying that the switch might get stuck during usage and could result power seat motor overheating.

Further, replacing the reclining switch could take 18 minutes and replacement of power seat motor should require a total of two and a half hours.

Those covered in the checkup are 8,059 Montero Sport four-wheel drive models (GLS SE and GT-V) units sold from 2009 up to present.

Here is MMPC's link for the VIN verification:

    MONTERO: http://www.mmpc.ph/vin-montero/index.php
    STRADA: http://www.mmpc.ph/vin-strada/index.php

So far, my VIN turned out "not on list". Conduction sticker series BU98XX

Diba ang VIN parehas sa chassis number?

Not a recall but a safety check.

The difference: no accidents have been recorded so far that are attributable to the parts being checked.

Plus, the safety check is very specific per model

For my unit, the safety check is ONLY for the reclining seat switch.

Kudos to MMPC for being proactive instead of being reactive
