it's only 3 months old. still practically new.
i would be curious, why the sell and why the seemingly low price.
if the explanation be "absurd", i'd check with the casa...

    oh... just about everything, sir.
but in truth, hindi kayo "makakasiguradong sigurado". it is easy to temporarily cover up "damaged goods", especially to the neophyte car owner..
see to it that everything works properly.
look for signs of "catastrophic damage"... alignment.. straightness of travel.. heavy body filler.. things that promise headaches to the new owner... reasons why owner is selling such a "new car" at such an attractive price.
look for evidence of overheating. (i wouldn't know where to start here.)
i would like to see it on a lift, where i can see the undersides.
verify ownership. verify ownership. verify ownership. the papeles might not yet be readily check-able in the LTO. but the casa should have the records of the sale. check both, sir.

i still can not believe that they are selling it at half the brand new price, after only 3 months.

casa warranty... i believe this warranty may be passed on to the new owner.. but check po, just to be sure.

errr... how did you find out about the car, sir?

if anything smells fishy in any way, walk away.
if clarity of ownership appears to be "tied up somewhere but will clear up anytime soon", walk away.
if they ask for any money for any reason, run away.

Practically brand new pa 3mos. And selling it for half the price. Tama si Dr d, be very careful, check ownership and condition of the vehicle. Baka assume balance? In any case be very diligent, and follow Dr d advice.

DTI officials face cases over Montero Sport issue
Complainants claim officials of the Department of Trade and Industry conspired with Mitsubishi Philippines over cases of sudden unintended acceleration

MANILA, Philippines – Victims of the alleged sudden unintended acceleration (SUA) of Mitsubishi Montero Sport vehicles filed cases before the Office of the Ombudsman against several officials of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Friday, January 29.

The officials, including former DTI Secretary Gregory Domingo, Undersecretary Victorio Mario Dimagiba, and Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau Director Anselmo Adriano, are facing criminal and administrative cases for dereliction of duty, violation of Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, grave misconduct, and gross neglect of duty filed by 10 victims and owners of car units which experienced SUA.

Alleged SUA cases rose in the past few months, in which some Montero Sport owners reported their vehicles suddenly moving or becoming uncontrollable during use, leading to accidents.

The victims claimed that the government agency “acted belatedly” on the complaints filed – only as a reaction to a resolution filed in the House of Representatives on the alleged SUA incidents. The DTI only created a panel to investigate the issue in December 2015.

The DTI, the complaint read, “helped, contrived, and cooperated” with Mitsubishi Philippines.

"Instead of initiating action as mandated by law and for DTI to immediately take positive move or action to protect and safeguard the welfare of the public or at least warn the public of the presence of defect in the Mitsubishi Montero Sports Vehicle as manifested by the 'SUA' thereof, the responsible officers of the DTI helped, assisted, contrived and cooperated with the Mitsubishi people in hiding and keeping from the public this defect in the vehicle," the complaint said.

Complainants added that the “deliberate failure or neglect” on the part of the DTI to perform their duties in relation to the alleged SUA incidents – including ordering a recall, banning the product in the market, and information dissemination – said incidents continued resulting in further damages to properties and individuals. – Rappler.com

Supposedly, the DTI is going ahead with third-party testing... FINALLY. But the DTI is still going to be the one to determine the tests needed... uh... what?

Having read the reports of the previous tests, they didn't cover any of the technical points or issues I would have highlighted, or that any mechanically inclined person with even a passing knowledge of modern diesels would have wanted targetted. I think they should admit their lack of knowledge and also hire third-party experts to determine the needed tests.

    -

Good luck to them, though. The only convincing report I've ever read regarding electronic SUA (the Toyota Booker report) was high-level stuff done in laboratory conditions on a naked PCM. Simply because, as pointed out there, you could do millions upon millions of real-world test kilometers without experiencing the random bit-flip necessary for a runaway electronic error to occur.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Haha! To the victims, the ONLY ACCEPTABLE OUTCOME is to conclusively find fault or fatal defect in the Montero Sport. Pustahan tayo, kahit negative ang lumabas sa independent third party testing, tuloy pa rin yang mga nagrereklamo.
