just saw a montero yesterday sa meh gold cars. i was buying an hid bulb at hot rod (opposite side of gold cars banawe)..
the montero was backing up from a parking position. yung rear nya ang naka harap sa banawe, i was in front and luckily nagbigay ako distansya agad. ganun din ginawa ng opposing vehicle sa kabilang lane. so clear na si montero para mag atras, then suddenly bigla siya umatras mabilis at diretso diretso, nagulat ako.

ayon nabanga naka park ng hilux sa opposite side. yupi fender.

ngayon naman as i was visiting a friend sa makati condo nila, meh montero din doon sa basement parking na totalled yung harap, both airbags deployed.
he told me the montero is park facing the wall sa basement parking tapos bigla nag forward hitting the wall.!

dahil sa condo parking, usually binili mo yung slot na yun. ganun din sa katabi mo sa parking binili nila din slot nila.. eh katabi nung montero ay "Porsche Boxster", sobrang takot siguro nung meh ari ng porsche hahaha....

just saying until its totally solved and every questions answered, be careful.... mahirap pag iakw na ang biktima. madali lang magsalita if your from the perspective ng commentator at hindi sa victim.

nakakatakot yun. naka-park meaning nasa "P" yung gear and i assume walang tao sa loob. paano pa magiging human error yun? baka dapat ghost error na itawag dun.

Meron akong nakausap kanina na may-ari ng agricultural/construction equipment shop dito sa amin. Ang rason daw kaya nabenta nya ang kanyang montero dahil pag nasa high rpm daw at biglang release ang apak sa gas pedal yung rpm needle ay masyadong mabagal ang pagbaba. Nabenta na nya ang kanyang unit years ago before this dreaded SUA issues was sensationalized by ABiasCBN.

Mitsubishi would not pursue legal action on abscbn as they obviously do not want any ruffled feathers here, but could subtly get even with the one thing that hurts abscbn most...

Is this so called gas and brake pedal design an issue in other countries with montero or pajero sport? It seems odd to me that this is only an issue in this country? Maybe there are also SUA cases in other countries brought about by this "design flaw" that I'm not aware off. Im not a Montero owner. I have Xtrail and MuX and just disposed my lancer so i have no brand loyalty.

Recall because of safety issues...

The Monty is far from the only car on the road with pedals closely in line with each other. A lot of cars have pedals designed like this. Enthusiasts actually prefer this set-up, and I've driven a lot of new cars with closely aligned gas and brake pedals.

-Monty creates an unreasonable safety risk or fails to meet minimum safety standards.

Identify the safety risk. Identify the standard. There are no standards here or anywhere else in the world that define the correct pedal height and relation. This is why you can have cars with up to four pedals in the foot box instead of just two or three.

Let the government declare a standard. Then force all manufacturers to fit three or four inch blocks on top of the brake pedals. Until then, there is no legal remedy for ergonomic issues in cars.

Without identifying the root cause, there is no point in doing a recall. You might as well ground every single car that has experienced some form of SUA or another. At last count, that's the Hiace, the Avanza, the Civic, the Fortuner, the Montero Sport, the Everest... (and from personal experience, the Venture, the Sentra (Aunt crashed on the road once. Pedal misapplication))

Mitsubishi claims it has identified the root cause. Floor mats and driver error. If anyone can prove them wrong, that is the time we can force a recall.

WTF! This Montero just reved so high it produced a black smoke while doing a reverse on standstill. Almost hit a crosswind. Female driver mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of brake. Luckily she was able to press on the brake on time.

So I therefore conclude, SUA are driver error.

Hindi yan bayaran ng Mitsu, ha. Bayaran ng BYD. (Racing driver in Philippine Micro Car Series for BYD).

While it is overly simplistic to say it is all driver error, a lot of the cases we've been given point to that.
