No recall of Montero Sport – DTI - CNN Philippines

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines)*– There will be no recall of Montero Sport units for now, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said on Thursday (December 17).

This decision came after a two-week panel investigation was conducted based on complaints on the alleged sudden and unintended acceleration (SUA) incidents of Montero Sport units.

A DTI inter-agency panel composed of the Bureau of Philippine Standards, Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau and the Consumer Protection & Advocacy Bureau led the assessment.

DTI ruled a third party is needed to conduct an investigation on the cause of SUA incidents of Montero Sport units.

The whole process will take about 20 days, after the DTI, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) identify a third party to do the investigation.

DTI mulls hiring foreign bodies to investigate the SUA cases, since the Philippines does not have a laboratory to conduct a full-vehicle check-up.

Mitsubishi, if proven guilty of releasing defective units, might be forced to have a product recall or return the payments of the 24 complainants.

Here we are Christmas season competing every inch of space to go forward sa bumper traffic, and then makakatapat ka ng isang plateless Vios driver na nasisingitan ng isang Buong bus or truck. wTF! Isang buong bus!

Those student driver schools should be investigated. Ginagawa na din ata all Japan Visa ang LTO license eh , no show na applicant

these new drivers are doing it slow, because they do have presence of mind. they do not want to drive any faster than what their reflexes will allow.
