I am also on the side saying it is due to driver error. But I was wondering about that move too. Why would they buy back the units? If they really are confident that it is not a factory defect, why would they resort to that?

And yes, I agree that the driver in the full video does not look like the guy in the ABS-CBN report at all.

Remember the "lemon" Ford Everest? The American who drove all around Alabang with LEMON written on the side of his car in soap?

I talked to an SA at Ford Alabang who knew about the case. There was nothing wrong with the car. The argument started when the guy, displeased with the rough ride (this was the first-gen), wanted them to buy it back at full price.

Eventually, Ford simply bought it back. Not full price, but above market value. Just to quiet the guy.

He bought a BMW touring bike later. Then complained about it.

Then it "mysteriously" caught fire after BMW refused to buy it back. Collected insurance. Goodbye.



Sometimes, the manufacturer will simply buy back to avoid conflict. Other times, they'll stand firm, if they know there's no way the customer will win over them in court. Here, given how the DTI and Congress have responded, do you think Mitsu will get fair shakes?

Im sure yung ECU have capabilities to log all the data from the sensors of the car from this data the engineers could analyze the cause of failure or accident. Baka may nakita yung mga engineers sa data logs ng ECU na di tama, just an opinion.

I agree that the engineers should review data from the ECU, but do they have to resort to buying back? They can just request to have certain units recalled for such a study.
