Topgear really put up a good statement. Pwede mo naman sigurong apakan ang brake pag feeling mo na-suSUA ka na noh? or handbrakes..or better yet, kayang-kaya mo naman sigurong ilagay s Neutral without pressing the brakes. or kung meron kang tinatawag na presence of mind, "ignition off."
I think more on psychological aspect na lang talaga ang claimed SUA ng Montero. Doon na lang isisi ang driver error. From park to drive eh talaga namang aandar sasakyan ntin lalo na pag nsa flat plane or descending position.
I owned Montero 2015 glx A/T model, narinig ko na yang SUA na yan prior to buying it. Di naman ako nadiscourage, first car ko pa nga to in fact! Let's not go into claiming me SUA ang montero natin.

Different a brands have different issues.... Kaya nga yung Ibang brand.. Inaayos or pinapalitan nila yung specific part na may problema..
Pero it's obvious naman Ang solution ng montero Dyan sa all new model nila is collision mitigation...
Don't pretend you have personal knowledge kung wala, kung meron eh di proper sabihin mo din up to the extent.
I think it's possible na yung congress mag enact ng law or make solution to address the issue. Every juan is invited during consultations or investigations especially those people mostly here who thinks they are the real party in interest. Put your words into actions so that the controversy can be settled.
This thread piqued my interest because I now drive a Diesel.
Reading up on Diesels in general also introduced me to an issue called Diesel run-away.
Anyway, just to sum up what I've been saying about the Montero, here are the few possible causes of the SUA, in no particular order:
1. Driver error
2. Diesel Run-away
3. Mechanical / Hardware issue
4. Software issue (drive-by-wire)
5. A combination of 1, 3 and/or 4 due to shift safety interlock failure or the vehicle was not equipped with one
Yes, we can't rule out driver error and I'm sure SOME of those 97 cases DOES involve driver error. The big BUT here, however, is that this only seems to happen predominantly on a Montero. So nobody can say that all 97 cases are caused by driver error when statistically, SUAs due to driver error using any OTHER A/T car, combined, are comparatively low. That's the argument.
If I may say so, the Montero is a good car. But I feel that due diligence on Mitsubishi's part to look further into this matter is just not enough. Transient errors/failures do happen in real life, so if you don't test anything well enough, you won't be able to catch it.
Kung puro montero kahit driver error - that means may flaw sa design di ba? Kung may flaw sa design why can't MS just go and solve it to stop accidents? if monteros are risking peoples lives - gaano kahirap ba isolve yun? They made so much money with the sales of Monteros in the Philippines.
