On a side note. We also have a 2009 Montero 3.2 4x4 GLS. Aside from the heavy steering na ilang beses mo dapat ikutin para makaliko, no other complaints. 4m41 engine is a gem. Almost 150tkms and its still being used lagare sa farm. Yes bulok talaga.
Yup, they should have used the 4m40 instead if the 4m41 is for the Pajero for obvious reasons.

I think the 4m40 with vgt would have made a killing. EFI pa lang niyan sulit na eh. CRDi pa kaya. Mitsu missed big time on that one imho. Pero cash cow daw kasi 4d56 hehehe. Dami repairs and maintenance vs the 4m4 series.

Kaya I was surprised when they released the MS in 2008 with 4M41, kako di tatagal papalitan ito, pang BK ito eh. Ayun na nga, nung established na ang sales sinalpak na ang legendary L300 este 4D56 with commonrail then followed by variable geometric T. and since then tumabo na at bumango ang MMPC.

This is my theory for this issue.

    From almost a year ago:

(Sorry if this has been posted)

So, one seems consistent. A number of victims claim that as soon as the gear was shifted to R or D, the engine revved up uncontrollably.

In one of the shots, you can see (although, it could just be coincidence) the pavement where it has been blackened by the exhaust. By the looks of it, even after hitting the kitchen and becoming immobile, the Montero's engine seemed to be on WOT for a bit of time on that spot.

Witnesses claimed that the car was spewing out black smoke.

For those who insist that the Mitsubishi Montero Sport suffers from sudden unintended acceleration, here's a seemingly similar incident involving a Toyota Fortuner. We really think the real cause of these accidents is pedal misapplication--something most drivers will never own up to (perhaps because they weren't even conscious of it to begin with).

As long as the trottle can be controlled by the cars's computer, there is always a risk of SUA.

When I first read about this SUA issue before, like one of the many members here, I also believed that it was the driver's fault. Now that this has been in the news lately, Im starting to think that maybe, just maybe, there is something wrong with it.

Our neighbor claimed that she has experienced it too way back, perhaps a couple of yrs ago. She said that the engine suddenly became wild, revved hard and it felt like it was possessed and just moved forward. Her Monty crashed on the wall. And even after it crashed, it still wanted to move forward then it stopped. They still have their Monty until now though.

Another friend of my mom also shared their story with their Monty. Similar experience. She said that the engine suddenly revved so hard like it wanted to fly and launched forward which eventually led to crashing into several vehicles. They were thankful that there were no people involved. I think it happened just this yr.

Both people have other cars too and they are not newbies to vehicles with AT.

If I will base their experiences to the story of people that I saw in the news, they are very similar.

I don't know but I still want to believe it's the driver's fault but there is that little doubt already.

All it takes is just 1 bit of misplaced data sa electronic control module. Boom! Imagine, Volkswagen can program the car to cheat the emission test? It's that easy! Same goes for making a mistake with the source code for the embedded system. It's that easy! It's also that easy to cover up and sweep under the rug.

This could be could happen to all brands. So let's just hope and pray that these companies hire the best and the brightest engineers out there to build our cars.
