I heard that brand new units of the model replaced by the 2016 montero were being sold at a huge discount with lots of freebies. Can anyone confirm this and the dealers where available? Thanks

Before the recent SUA claims hit mainstream and social media, the previous-generation Montero Sport had been averaging some 1,000 units sold per month. This in spite of the fact that people knew the all-new model was already on its way. Mitsubishi's SUV opened 2015 with 920 and 974 units in January and February, and then moved 1,265 units in March (a record for 2015). The next seven months--from April to October--saw pretty much the same numbers: 1,016, 1,043, 1052, 1,031, 905, 1,007 and 1,173 units.

In November, when the new SUA complainants started stepping forward, the Montero Sport's sales figure dropped to 884. Still within reasonable range, to be sure. But imagine a media environment in which a Montero Sport SUA story was told almost every day, and consumer confidence was bound to cave in. And it did.

The beleaguered SUV's sales total in December? A horrendous 357 units.

Thankfully, for Mitsubishi, a lot has happened since November--events that somehow helped turn the tide in favor of its erstwhile hotcake product. There was MMPC's own press conference in which it categorically stated that there was nothing wrong with its sport-utility vehicle. There was the letter of reassurance addressed to customers. There was the Department of Trade and Industry's investigation report. And there was the "drive of confidence" organized by Montero Sport owners and defenders.

Did all of these things work to stop the so-called bleeding?

Apparently, yes, because MMPC has announced that it sold a healthy 1,616 units of the Montero Sport in January (last month)--816 units of the outgoing model and 800 units of the new one.

MMPC adds that "more than 3,000 customers have reserved a unit (for the all-new model)."

Has Mitsubishi won the PR war then? No, far from it. In fact, we expect the forces behind the SUA campaign to step up their efforts in the coming days. An all-new model notwithstanding, the "Montero Sport" brand is still reeling from the heavy blows it has received since November. Everything now hinges on the outcome of a planned third-party investigation.

We're very much interested to see what the SUV's sales total will be in the next few months.

Pero last week or two weeks ago nakakita ako sa slex na nahulog naman everest or Chevrolet Yata from carrier. Ganun din wasak din yun mga SUVs nakalagay sa taas

In cases like that, third party ba mga drivers or Mitsu employees mga yan?

Yan ba yung cases na mga nagmamadali yung nakabili kaya from batangas idrive na straight to dealership?

    No longer carrier transported?

Kawawa makakabili in the future, hindi nila alam nabangga na unit bago nila ilabas sa oto sa dealer
