I never use my left foot when driving an A/T (may gumagawa ba talaga nun) Even driving a manual, my brother told me to keep my left foot on the foot rest.

BUT re the SUA, are they saying ALL of those cases are drivers error?

I know, right? But remember those days na halos mg cutting classes tyo dahil lang sa arcade games? Me isang game doon na kailangan mong gamitin left foot mo sa brake, at right foot sa accelerator para mabilis takbo mo..siguro sanay syang gamitin pareho hahaha!

When I was on casa, ready to take my Monty out, SA and technical leadman who toured me to my car, REMINDS me that, "HUWAG NA HUWAG MONG GAGAMITIN LEFT FOOT MO SA PAGDADRIVE NG AUTOMATIC. MADIDISGRASYA KA LANG!!!"

Yes I just stated the fortuner to at least give equal statistics more or less.

Pero sabi nga ni topgear ph sa pinas lang may SUA cases. Lahat ng ibang bansa na kumukuha ke thailand, tayo lang din ang meron. At baket wala sa strada, since shared ang drivetrain nila.

if you want to test 0--100 kph times, or there is this jerk beside your car with a pineapple can exhaust revving his engine sa stop light, hell yeah! left foot on brake right foot on accelerator with engine revved up to maximum torque...

I have been an M/T driver eversince I started driving more than 20 years ago. Owning M/T cars before and now two Honda Civics, an M/T FD and an SiR, I liked the sticks. Just this year, I begun driving my wife's car, an A/T Vios and only use my right foot for the brake and the accelerator with pivoting motion just like driving an M/T. I have never used my left foot when I drive the Vios, though when Go Karting I use the left foot to brake.

Going back to this case, I have no idea how the Montero's brake and gas pedal are positioned. Are they in an awkward position where you could mistakenly step on the wrong pedal. The behavior of our feet when driving relies on "muscle memory", where our foot "remembers" where the pedals would be. Even the amount of force (the "feel") we exert on the gas and brakes rely on muscle memory. Driver No. 2 possibly had a "muscle memory" of a different car (brake and gas pedals unlike the Montero's), thus, instead of pressing on the brakes, baammm! he stepped on the gas instead..and the rest was mayhem. Driver should be thankful no one was hurt...Just my two cents:-)

the video did raise questions for me...
the black smoke and the absence of brake lights.. did the driver really step on the brake as he claims? the video suggests otherwise.
..verbal claims versus video record..
i can only imagine how that gives credence to the other complainants' claims.
... it is a class suit...

and that left foot on the brake issue? leave it be, folks. it's not illegal. if you can't do it safely, that does not mean no one can.

Bakit puro duda pa rin ang iba dito. Ayan na nga't may video na ng katangahan..

Bakit kamo sa montero lang? Simple lang yan. May isang bobong gumawa ng issue na SUA sa montero, and then nabangga si montero owner, ay na-sua din ako (gaya nitong si white montero).
