fortuners have shift lock, you cant shift when engine is off unless you press the shift button.
Odd. Yung 07 Prado namin meron atang shift lock, even if it uses a gated shifter. AFAIK the brake pedal must be pressed in order to shift.

The Vios and the Forester also have this. A button on the console unlocks the shifter if the engine is off.
Those without gates like the old Lancers and Galants have a button on the side of the shifter to move from P to R and IIRC R to N. They can be shifted from N to D and vice versa without pressing the button.
Ah... read again... yes... you can't shift when the engine is off, but you can shift into any gear when the engine is on without having to press a button...

Now i'm scared to ride our montero.. Nangyayari pa ba ito sa GLS V? Can you give me some tips on what to do if this happen to me? Thanks

me magnanakaw bang umaamin na kawatan sila?
SUA claimants: find same incident with Thailand users!!!!
or try this - left foot at the brakes, floor the accelerator pedal with your right foot.
Kun napaabot mo sa 3-4k rpm yan without shutting down the engine - that's something.
also, you can only start your engine on P and N positions.
pag sabay apakan ang brakes and accelarator, mas malakas ang brakes ah
Indeed sir, I'm quite relieved to find out that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. It would be troublesome if its a technical issue since I'll always be nervous when driving it.
Uht uh.
I do drag-strip testing on vehicles as part of my job, and both the Fort and Monty will stay perfectly still if you have the brakes held down and the gas pedal to the floor. Neither have enou torque to overwhelm the admittedly puny brakes.
The old Ranger AT will spin the rear tires up... But it won't move. It'll create a noxious cloud of smoke, but it won't move.
Whatever RPM it will hold with the brakes down.
All torque-converter automatics have a "stall" rpm at which the torque converter cannot accelerate anymore while the wheels are stationary. This is usually between 2000-3500 rpm. Most diesels will stall at 2000-2500 rpm.
I don't suggest you do this often. It builds up heat in the transmission. Heat that shears the molecules of the transmission fluid, making them less capable of protecting your torque converter and gears from mechanical stress and friction. If you take your AT to the track to drag race, you should replace the ATF at the next oil change, whether or not it's time to do so.
