My dad used to drive manual transmission vehicle. When he tried driving the automatic, he has a hard time adjusting on stepping the brake first. But nevertheless he tried but it seems like he cannot adjust the way on driving an automatic transmission vehicle. He revert back to driving a manual transmission.

May nag post din sa una, Sta Fe naman, although mas malamang driver's error yun.
Sinabi lang SUA maybe as advised by their lawyers.

Spoke with a former HS barkada last week and i was informed that a former classmate bumped a pedestrian when his 2011 Montero suddenly accelerated while waiting for the green light at an intersection. Buti na lang, he had the presence of mind to shift the transmission to neutral from drive in a split second lessening the impact. minor bruise lang daw yung pedestrian thank God....

The Toyota investigation centered around components supplied by a US company. It doesn't matter where it's made. What matters is the quality control and design.

Besides... they didn't find anything. What WAS recalled were the Toyota floor mats that were entangling the pedals.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

There is nothing unusual with a hyundai experiencing SUA. There are a lot of cases worldwide just like any other car manufacturer. Check this site to read their SUA experiences with a santa fe.

first time I sat on a Montero sa CASA. checked the GLX non-VGT A/T variant which is one of our choices together with the all-new Ford Ranger. One thing I noticed sa A/T montero is that the Gearshift can be shifted without stepping on the brakes. with the engine off and no stepping on brakes, just pull the small lever switch and you can shift it at any gear (I did). ganun ba talaga yun? no shift lock? para kasing di kapanipaniwala as if naman ang hirap gumawa ng shift lock. .

personally, no offense, I didn't believe on MS SUA since the issue started. what I observed with the shifter further made me believe that there is no issue indeed with the montero. the shifter, having no shift lock, yun malamang ang dahilan on these crashes, shifting to D knowing that you are stepping on the brakes, unfortunately, you are stepping on gas then Boom...

Official Statement of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines on Claims of Sudden Unintended Acceleration

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) would like to inform the public that the Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) claims insinuating that the Montero Sport is defective are without any basis.

These SUA claims were not ignored but were attended to and each claim was investigated and appropriately addressed. MMPC with its mother company, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) Japan, performed a thorough investigation of these claims. In fact, experts from Japan went to MMPC last February and October 2011 and conducted series of tests on the units with this complaint. October of that same year, a unit with SUA complaint was also sent to MMC Japan to be inspected and tested in MMC's proving ground in Okazaki, Japan. In all these tests, the claim of unintended acceleration did not manifest.

The phenomenon of SUA is not unique to the Philippines or Montero Sport models alone. In most SUA claims in other countries, the blame was placed on vehicle itself, but this was never established in various studies and tests conducted on this matter.

MMPC would like to caution the public, however, that pedal application errors (driver unintentionally stepping the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal) may cause sudden unintended acceleration.

Like with any other automatic vehicle, owners/drivers should always be mindful of their driving, making sure to step on the brake pedal when starting and when shifting gears. We also encourage every owner/driver to read the vehicle owner's manual, as there are important reminders on the proper driving procedures most especially for automatic transmission vehicles. (Please see http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.ph/...-reminders.php)

If you are a Montero Sport owner and you have concerns about this claim, you may contact our Mitsubishi Customer Care Center at telephone number (+632) 658 – 0673 Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or visit any of our service centers nationwide.

MMPC guarantees the quality and workmanship of all its vehicles, pursuant to warranty provisions and seek ways to continuously improve its products.

With this assurance, we hope that claims of SUA being unfairly attributed to the Montero Sport will be put to rest.

Sa TV Patrol naman sabi ng mga witnesses, may edad na babae na lasing yung driver.
Makes you wonder sa truthfulness ng mga SUA claims.

I dont think its a monty that was involved sa accident na yun. The driver was an old man, he accidentally pressed the gas pedal to hard and during those time wala pang tire barrier sa parking area nila kaya pumasok yun car sa loob ng waiting area.

Gated shifters dont really have shiftlocks, right? Does the Fortuner have a shift lock? Gated Benzes don't.
