Mitsubishi Celeste

Bago lang po ako dito at walang alam tungkol sa kotse. Pauwi na po ako sa Pilipinas galing dito sa middle east at wala po akong ibang sasakyang magagamit don sa atin kungdi yong Celeste na minana ko sa tatay ko. Itatanong ko lang po sana kung mga magkano kaya aabutin kung ipapa General/Major chek-up/maintenance ko siya like tune-up at iba pa. Can't afford po kasing bumili ng auto, worth pa po ba na ipa "major check-up" ko siya kasama aircon at palitan ang dapat palitan.

Naibiyahe ko na po yon last year lang from Pangasinan to Makati at swerte namang hindi tumirik yon nga lang tatlong beses akong nag stop-over at on and off ang aircon. Problema pa kasi ay masyadong malikot ang manibela, mahina ang aircon kahit bagong karga ng freon at di mo siya pwedeng iwanan na umaandar ang makina dahil namamatay na lang siya basta.

Mga magkano po kaya lahat aabutin at kung saan po sa Pangasinan, Tarlac or Pampanga may magaling na shop para sa mga ganitong lumang sasakyan? Pasensiya na po sa dami ng tanong ko pero kailangan ko po talaga ang opinyon ninyo.

Welcome to tsikot. I recall when I was a child ay gandang-ganda po ako sa Mitsubishi Celeste. Very aerodynamic ang body niya during it's time.

As for the cost depende po sa dami ng sirang makikita. Maganda po siyang project na i-restore ang inyong car. with the malikot na manibela baka po wala sa balance ang tires or kailangan na ng alignment. Also have the suspension parts checked and lubricated. Sa engine naman po ay try to have it tuned-up. Kung kumakain na ng langis or masyadong mausok ay baka kailangan na ng overhaul. Your mechanic can assess this. Regarding sa aircon baka po mayproblem ang idler-up ninyo kaya madaling mamatay. Have it checked. Pwede din pong baka may problem na ang compressor kaya minsan ayaw lumamig. Also check for hose leaks, auxillary fan and cooling system which may also contribute to your problems. Goodluck.

Salamat po sa reply. posible din bang palitan ang transmission ng celeste ko ng 5 speed kasi 4 speed lang yon kaya pag naka 100 na ang speed niya ay ang ingay na ng makina.

I am not sure about 5-speed transmission options for the Celeste pero kung may available po then it's very possible.

Celeste (I think) have saturn engine ng mitsubishi (else Astron model)...both are very good ones...

Opinion ko lang: Carb mo needs cleaning lang....DIY mo....get a carburator cleaner spray....remove the carb filter cover/casing, run the engine and spray the carb until malinis na....sometimes you need to rev it up para mahigop ang dumi...

You'll see a significant improvement.

Sa tune up (pa palit mo na lahat na dapat - air filter, contact points, fuel filter, oil filter, oil and spark plugs)....ang suggestion ko sa mitsubishi casa mo dalhin (baka meron pa silang mechaniko duon na sanay sa old school cars like celeste) malamang meron din silang service manual duon ng celeste para maiset ng tama ang mga tuppets (intake and out valve), dwell angle, contact point clearance and spark plug clearance.

Konti lang ang ikamamahal ng casa....kesa sa mechanikong pupol!!!

Then ipacheck mo na rin ang suspension system, brake system, aircon and wheel alignment (duon na rin sa casa kun kaya nila - else sa goodyear servitek could do that).

Mahina ang P15,000 on all of this changes....but I can assure you na mas safer na ang oto mo pag lahat ng dapat palitan ay pinalitan at ginawa.

Kun low budget ka...i-DIY mo pero ganun din....marami ka pang oras na gugugulin

Di po ba 1.4L Neptune yung isa sa mga optional engines ng Celeste? O dun lang yun sa Lancer (bar-type at L-type) ang Neptune?

Sino po dito may alam na website tungkol sa Neptune (specs, surplus dealers, etc.)? Sino me alam kung saan galing engine and transmission ng Cimarron? (I'm guessing it's from the 70's Lancers).

I used to own a Celeste. Sayang had to let it go. Why? It's a long story.

Wala na iyong kaha, napakilo na, natira na lang is iyong mga mechanical parts (buong pang-ilalim, engine, transmission, etc.) and bumpers, lights, grilles, etc.

Maganda manakbo ang Celeste. According to some older people I've talked to, matulin daw iyong Celeste during its time. 1600 OHC engine, 900+ kg. curb weight are the main reasons why matulin ang Celeste.

Sakit talaga ng Celeste ang overheat, especially pag naka-aircon. Best thing to do is to replace your fan with an electrical type (hindi nakakabit sa engine crank) with a Bosch type. Medyo mahal but investment siya. Sabayan mo na rin ng radiator upgrade to two rows.

Good thing maganda pa ang kundisyon ng kaha mo, iyong sa akin, nakuha ko sobrang bulok in my attempt to restore one. But it turned out na sobrang hirap hanapin ang piyesa niya. I fell into one stumbling block (hood) kasi sobrang hirap hanapin. Nakakita kami ng parts car kaya lang naunahan kami. So I have no choice but to stop my Celeste restoration, sell the parts, and start another old school project.

By the way, there is a club dedicated to Old School Mitsubishi Owners and enthusiasts. Visit their website at www.oldschoolmitsu.com.

Saturn 1600 ang stock engine ng Celeste and I believe this is the only option na lumabas dito sa atin. Comes with 4-speed transmission and stock 3.9 differential.

maraming salamat po sa mga suggestions ninyo at mas maganda nga sigurong dalhin sa mitsubishi casa baka nga sakaling mas maganda ang magiging resulta lalo na kung konti lang naman pala ang itataas ng babayaran... actually naisip ko na rin po dati na dalhin siya sa casa kaso medyo worried ako na baka tawanan nila ang kotse ko dahil antique na :mrgreen:

Basta po napapakinabangan ang car ay hindi ito antique. Y our Celeste is one of the best cars during it's time and be proud of it. :D

Kunwari...proud owner car ng mga classic collectable cars na meron history ng street drag racing capability...and now you're trying to "rebuild" it as a project car....he,he,he:lol::lol::lol:

But honestly, the Celeste is a good project car...lalo na kung this was still in an almost original state (condition)....my current project car is an 80 Toyota Starlet....hope to finish it within the year...paipon-ipon lang ng kaunti for the budget.

...used to have one in the garage.. 'twas a good car.
but it's sooo old, mauuubos lang ang pondo, panahon, at pasiyensiya mo sa paghahanap ng piyesa at mekanikong marunong magkumpuni.. and at that age, i expect rust.. rust.. my advise: walk away.
kuha ka na lang ng 90s sentra. may dapat palitan nga, but at least may makukuha kang piyesa..

Premium lang naman dati gas nung late 80's kelan lang lumabas ang mga unleaded gasoline 1990's na.

Sa edad ng oto mo recomended jan high octane na.

Ang velocity at blaze ay unleaded din. High octane nga lang. Bawal na ang leaded gas dito.

Otep salamat po... so ano po ang magandang ikarga ko, high octane or low octane para sa lumang sasakyan, pasensiya na po wala kasi akong alam tungkol sa sasakyan.
