ALREADY PROVING ITSELF A SUCCESS, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation released photos of the all-new Outlander set for a market introduction early next year. The all-new Outlander will consolidate the Airtrek/Outlander combination that is being sold in more than a dozen countries worldwide, including the Philippines.
The all-new Outlander sits on Mitsubishi’s new C-segment platform—the same one also set to underpin the Lancer replacement. Mitsubishi will be keeping the 2.4-liter inline-4 on the Outlander and with MIVEC, its 160 horsepower output can’t be considered as lacking. The all-wheel drive system is set for further improvements and may include more technologies from the Lancer Evolution line.
Outside, the Outlander’s origami-like styling replaces the rather anime cues of the current model. It looks more grown-up, more refined but still having the flair—something that can’t be said with others in its segment. The split-grille design has been abandoned on the new Outlander, pointing to Mitsubishi’s new global design philosophy.
