Hehe baka motor yan.

But honestly mas matipid ang Montero ko 9-10km/l ako on city drive.

Masmatipid ang CX-5 compared to most 2.0L CUV and would be comparable to most 2.0 sedans.
Kaya nga dapat ginagamit yung average speed function nung trip computer.
Dami kasing tatanga tanga yung FC lang tinitingnan, eh importante din yung average speed para magauge kung gaano ba talaga kaluwag or kalala yung traffic at that time.

BTT, my asx still good for me lalo na pag luwas sa Manila at wala naman gaanong karga.
My odo clocks at 48k, all in all ang average FC ko is 10.13kpl. (FC is "total kilometer" run over "all fuel" consumed).
At opo, average yan hindi instantaneous, verified with full tank/km run method. Di naman ako mangmang e.
Maliit kasi makina ng ranger nyo, 2.2, kaya hirap. Same weight being pulled by a less efficient engine = lower gas mileage. Parehas lang yan ng vios 1.3 and vios 1.5, mas matipid sa gas yung 1.5. Newtonian physics lang yan.
Average edsa, quezon avenue and espana traffic po yung nabanggit na city driving, NOT bumper to bumper.Siguro average speed nasa 50-60kph on stretches and gapang on bottlenecks (i.e., cubao, shaw, morayta, quiapo).

I would assume papi na ako yung pinatatamaan mo dito dahil ako lang naman yung nagpost na naka-2.2 Ranger (despite you using "niyo" instead of "mo").
First, I never found your 8.5 km/L city driving FC to be erroneous or exaggerated. It's perfectly normal to get 8.5 km/L city driving if the traffic isn't so bad - in the same conditions you described in another post, I would get 9-10 km/L if I pay attention to my driving.
We do, however, have different experiences of our worst city FC. You described 8.5 km/L as your "worst" city FC, while I have gone lower because I frequently find myself in worse traffic (Makati-Pasig via EDSA rush hour is common for me). My average speed is 15 kph according to a trip computer - AutoIndustriya already considers 20 kph average as moderate to heavy, so 15 kph is actually on the low end of the spectrum.
What I find ludicrous is claiming double-digit city FC figures for 2-liter cars (i.e. CX-5 doing 12-14 km/L city driving). It's possible, yes, but it's not really indicative of typical "city traffic".
Second, I never said that you were "mangmang" and only used instantaneous readings without verifying through full tank method. Again, I am referring to the ludicrous CX-5 post that was actually secondhand info that was based on trip computer readings alone.
Third, I disagree that the 2.2 MT engine (you said Ranger "niyo", and this is what I have in my Ranger) is inherently less fuel efficient in city driving than the 3.2 5-cylinder engine paired with a 6AT, ceteris paribus.
It's true that a bigger engine will require less effort to sustain speed, but this should be more apparent in light traffic and highway driving. When you're in the city and stuck in a traffic jam for 2 hours, the 3.2 is thirstier because a 3.2 consumes more at idle than a 2.2. At low speeds (20-50 kph, usual speed in the city), I wouldn't say that the 2.2 is stressed all that much, so it isn't at a disadvantage versus the 3.2.
************'s Uly Ang got 8.19 km/L with the 2.2 AT, while he got 7.57 km/L with the 3.2 AT.
AI's Vince ****elos got 8.9 km/L with the 2.2 AT, while he got 9.1 km/L with the 3.2 AT. Note that the figures are higher than Uly's test, which could mean that Vince is that much more efficient of a driver than Uly, or Vince's city test route was less clogged than Uly's, which as I said above is more advantageous for the 3.2.
Lastly, resident poster Niky Tamayo got 8-10 km/L in the city with the 2.2 MT, compared to 6-8 km/L with the 3.2 AT. On the highway, he claims both will get 14-16 km/L when driven nicely. This again supports my hypothesis that the 3.2 closes in on the 2.2's FC at higher speeds rather than in city driving.

You won't get much fuel efficiency these days in Davao where the city speed limit is 30 kph.
Ang panalo ngaun liit kotse mo, tpos body frame mo tipong pang Korean Novela, kaya magsuot ng fitting suit
Gone are the days of big SUV men with big tummys and average 220lbs
Yun ang mga magastos sa tingin ko, imagine going to and fro sa work with their fortuners / pajeros, consuming too much road space and fuel everyday, tapos bababa, kala mo Kung sinong maskulado yun pala 3 gatang ng Kanin tapos adobo tinitita kada dinner, yun sa tingin ko parasite of nature. Consumes way too much of resources, add to that their big wives and on the way oversized children who hang out in Starbucks/CBtl daily. Imagine kid slurping all that calories without even working, lakas consumo buong pamilya
