    Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone can help or give me an advice. I own a mitsubishi lancer gls year 2005 model, 1.6 engine cvt. second hand. My problem is the fuel consumption, it is a little bit high, it is around 5km/liters city driving. I already changed oil, replace air filter, tune up, but still the same. What can I do to make a reasonable rate of 7 or 8km/liters?

i don't press hard on the gas pedal. i wait for the car to slowly accelerate.. i can get 7 km/li that way.

Or for the mean time, plan your trips, early in the morning, late night, check yung idle rpm kung pwede pang ibaba, tipid apak sa gas, coasting pag may pagkakataon...

Try using iridium spark plugs also, it will help in the acceleration so mas lesser ang apak.

    Hello,
Thank you for the reply, medyo malakas yun pedal ko sa gas pag start because mabagal siya sa start.

that's strange... when i start mine, i do not even have to step on the gas pedal. the automatic choke does everything...
and yes, my 2003 cedia thinks it's a crv..

taas ng FC mo ah. di kaya sa programming ng ECU yan?
but, check mo din yung route mo everyday, sobrang traffic ba?

musta naman ang tire pressure mo? over inflating based on whats recommended can help reduce fuel consumption

Hindi lang a little bit high, very high na! Even if this car is supposedly inefficient, this is not the norm. I'd expect this sort of gas mileage from big V6 engines around 3.0-3.5L in displacement! Have you already tried changing the CVTF? Try also using the manual shift override and shift as early as allowable by the transmission. And as 1D4LV said, there may also be problems with the ECU programming. You may want to have it checked with an ECU analyzer.

    Hello gti,
What do you mean by ecu programming, where i get such service? Sa casa? Last time nag ask ako sa casa, sabi niya normal na daw yun 5-6km/liters pag ganyan ka lumang car. Or palitan ko daw yun timing valve ko which will cost me P11,000. Will it be the solution?

Just want to ask, ok ba yun mga na bibili sa blade stores like x-1r engine treatment? Or nakaksira sila ng mga engines? Last time, pinacheck ko na sa shell station yun tungkol dyan sa fuel consumption ko, pero palit spark plug muna daw then observe. Gusto ko na tuloy bumili ng mirage dahil sa 21km/liters, but not in the budget for that yet chaka mas malaki ang katawan ng lancer compare to the mirage, so kung kaya ko pangsolusyunan yun fuel consumption, why not diba?

I've never tried those engine treatments. Replacing spark plugs may be a good way to go, but I don't think they'd have such a big effect on your gas mileage. But have you changed your transmission fluid yet? I remember a forumer who owns a Crosswind A/T complaining of bad FC and had already done oil and filter changes. His gas mileage drastically improved after changing his ATF which, apparently, was neglected.

About the Mirage, 21km/L is a manufacturer claimed number and most likely doable only under optimum circumstances. If you read the Mirage review from ************, the author said he only got 8.7km/L! Suppose it isn't always so thrifty after all.

    I have a 2007 Mitsu Lancer 1.6 GL

The FC on heavy traffic is 7.5 and 7.9 km/L, this computation is from 2 full tanks. My wife uses it and i asked her to compute for the FC just recently to compare with the Accent HB which travels same route and traffic everyday.

Yes, the casa would have the equipment to detect any malfunctioning sensors. If there really are malfunctioning sensors, do ask the functions of the sensors they say are busted. There may be sensors that are unnecessary to replace and save you a few grand.

And then I don't think this sort of gas mileage is normal. Besides, your car isn't that old... A relative of mine used to own a '94 Lancer "itlog" GLXi, had it for 16 years. Said it got him good gas mileage (though I never got to ask how good). When he changed to a '97 Galant V6 4AT, said it got him 6-7km/L.

    Hello GTI,
Do you have any recommended personnel which i can talk to in a mitsubishi casa? I live in Malate Manila. Maybe i can talk to them first and understand the problem.

When u start from a stop. U let the car rev to how much rpm?
When u are accelerating, how much revs does the car maintain to get to your optimal speed?
How long in km is your regular travels?
You maintain what kph regularly during your trip?

Pasagot na lng. Wag i-pad ang numbers ha.

Well, ever working days, nakaka 20km per day lang ako, back and forth na yun. Rev during stop or accelerating, check ko yun part na yan. Normal speed ko is 50kph per trip.

mahal yung oem belt. medyo mahal din yung labor, compared to, say, cleaning all four brakes..
but the timing belt is the one item that i will insist on using oem..

and our lancer's body is not really that much heavier than the competition's to explain the outstanding fuel consumption... let's just face it.. matakaw lang talaga sa gas.

if the unit is already out of warranty the owner can save on labor cost by having it serviced outside
