they must have chosen the lancer because of its...
lighter platform
minimal wind resistance
high agility
surely, they know what they're doing.

it doesn't really matter what shell they use...professional racing platforms are pretty much designed from the ground up and share almost nothing in common with the road cars. the sheetmetal they put on those platforms is pretty much a marketing ploy to create buzz for whichever car they want to publicize.
which is why the Pajero makes more sense because their drivers are more likely to want something that has offroad prowess...Lancer drivers? not so much

Hmmm... know what? With the X6 coming out and the inevitable copy-cat-ism and increased interest in that segment... maybe Mitsubishi will now seriously consider making a "Dakar" Pajero for public consumption? It's a vain hope... but there's hope, nonetheless.

August 24th, 2008 11:15 AM #18it is sad for this car/suv??...to replace the pajero.but i don't think mitsu made a bad move, for this thing is more aerodynamic than the pajero.
in racing...every second counts.
...even then,i hate to see a lancer-like behemoth-car-shaped thing???doing about a dakar rally against other suv's that look suv's.
then again that's IMO

well, come to think of it. nissan somehow did the same since the r35 isn't a skyline lol. maybe they're just looking for a smaller platform to suit the narrow trail of south america.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?
silver is my favorite color. i can get away with not cleaning the car for long-ish periods of time....
