you are right, dsm - there's a lot of these funny mistakes in the car world...like:

Chevy Nova = No Va is spanish for "no go" or "does not go"
Ford Pinto = Pinto is brazilian slang for "little penis"

and buick's latest car model soon to come out named "lacrosse" will not be named as such in canada cuz the french-speaking canadians in quebec that word means "masturba---n".i don't know what the quebecois name of the car would be, as of yet....

Haaaay. Magbasa kasi ng lumang threads!

Pajero is the Argentinian word for a predatory mountain cat... a cougar or lynx. Remember yung mga tire cover ng Gen1? Yun yung parang Pusa na naka outline.

In any case, masturbator yung connotation niyan sa Spanish speaking countries, therefore, In said countries, the name was changed to Montero.

Pero wala pa ring nakakasagot sa tanong ko kung bakit Shogun ang pangalan niya sa UK.

Yup, kadalasan walang meaning ang mga pangalan ng sasakyan. They were just conjured up by the marketing people.
