March 10th, 2003 12:09 AM #102Mainit pong pagbati sa inyong lahat. May strada po ako(acquired last September, 2002). Ginawa ko po ang mod sa actuator can as per pajerokid's illustration. Kaso po I used the stainless washers, mas manipis po sa ordinary washers. So I used 5 stainless washers in each bolt. Can I still add more washers or enough na yong 5?

Welcome sir Mangyan!!!
First off sir, id like to express my admiration for your courage! Bihira po sa atin (me included) and magmomodify ng engine while under warranty!
Unfrotunately mahirap pong sagutin yung tanong ninyo if 4.5mm is enough. Wala po kasi tayong boost gauge so we cant really tell how much boost is given by turbos.
In my opinion, id stick to 4.5mm muna. Tutal ramdam mo naman yung improvement. Pag bitin na po kayo, tsaka nyo na lang dagdagan :D Or, you could have a boost gauge installed to really quantify kung gaanong kalakas ang bigay ng turbo. Then we could better judge if you can add another washer.
Our gurus here say a 12psi boost (+2psi over stock) can easily be handled by our 4d56's
hope this helps

March 10th, 2003 12:39 PM #106You should try to get a boost gauge kahit pang test lang para malaman how much boost your making, maximum na kakayanin ng engines natin is around 13psi but i think thats pushing it already, remember 21:1 ang compression ng engines natin, sa mga gasoline engines na kinakabitan ng turbo binabaan ang compression to accomodate the added boost.
So if you really want to check how much boost or if you want to maximize your boost maybe you could borrow a boost gauge, for testing purposes.
I can volunteer my boost gauge, detachable naman ang boost gauge ko kailangan lang natin ng hoses for the test :D.

March 10th, 2003 10:46 PM #109Pajerokid:: sir, mahilig lang akong mag-experiment pag walang magawa. Na-curious lang po ako. Now, I experienced the effect of the modification, baka po ibalik ko na sa dati. Baka kumatok ang engine ko wala akong pampagawa...hehehehehe
Yellow:: sir, I really appreciate your kind gesture i.e offering ur boost gauge. Kaso sir, naka-base ako d2 sa province namin. I seldom visit the Big City. Sir, query lang po. Saan po ba kinakabit ang boost gauge? Which is safer on engine, the mod on actuator can or turbo boost controller? Which has the greater boost?

ahehehe :D Ser, basta ingatan nyo lang po yung turnilyo at medyo malabot talaga ang mga manifold. :D
Mas maganda pa rin ang Manual Boost control because the wastegate will only open when the appropriate threshold is reached. Unlike yung mod po natin na pwedeng mag "partially open" yung wastegate.
But then again..... comparing Php8000 (as quoted for a MBC + Labor) to <Php20.00 (+ greasy hands) makes the choice rather obvious (to me at least) :D
Puwede i try, 1. Palit air filter 2. Linis throttle body 3. Linis MAF sensor 4. Check spark...
high idle RPM at engine start
