September 14th, 2009 01:55 PM #3Tranny issues are with Honda Jazz and City CVT edition. It might be because lots of Jazz and City are having problems w/ CVT, kaya na lump si Mitsu with them, since its CVT.
I have a 2003 MX CVT. At 80k kms, no problems whatsoever with the transmission. For the transmission, just go to Casa for Change transmission oil every 40k kms, since special oil sya. Don't put any other oil in, or else, dead CVT. For the rest of the engine, regular oils would suffice.
FYI: Dead CVT = can't be repaired, you'd have to buy a new one. Costs 200k I think. So take care of the oil you put in there.
If I were you, just keep the car, take care of the transmission, ok ka na. I don't think the tranny would go bad on you as long as you take care of the oil.

The 2000 MX isn't CVT yet.
The old INVECS ATs really are more expensive to maintain than similar 1.6 ATs of the time. That model has no fewer than three separate computer boxes, and the transmission itself costs a lot to replace.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

to the TS:
MX 1999 up to the MX 2002 pizza body model uses INVECS-II sportsmode 4speed A/T tranny. 1996-1998 pizza's use the conventional 4speed A/T. 2003-2008 Cedia Lancers use Invecs-III (CVT).
1999-2000 MX - Non-extended bumper same as 1996-1998.
2000-2002 MX - extended bumper, quad headlights
The same Invecs-II technology is being used by newer Mitsu Products that are not installed with Invecs-III (CVT). If this technology has many flaws, I doubt if Mitsubishi would still use it on its new vehicles. Check the New Montero Sports and Pajero SE. AFAIK, both of these new rides use 4speed Invecs-II and NOT Invecs-III (CVT).
The key to maintaining the A/T's long life is proper maintenance of the ATF. I drive a MX 2001 model same body as yours and its already logged 130K, so far no issues whatsover with its Invecs-II tranny.
I think the BnS guy is just underestimating the real value of the car which is typical for them when they acquire cars for resale anyway. MX 2000-2002 (extended bumper) models still resale for about 240-280K in the market when I last checked this week.

i drive a similar car, wala naman problema, basta alaga lang nung gumagamit

September 15th, 2009 01:33 AM #10Ohhh..my mistake 2000 MX pala.
In that case, INVECS is just a name for their AT w/ manual gear selector. Same lng yan w/ the other cars na may +/-. Tsaka lahat ng transmission, pag nasira MAHAL.
Ginogoyo ka lng ng Buy n Sell. :D
