I'm using Lancer MX 2003, Automatic Transmission. Pero hindi ko po alam ano ibig sabihin ng + and - signs sa shifting gear. And hindi ko din po alam ano ibig sabihin ng "DS", and don't know when to use it.
Help please?
Thanks!

using + and - is like using a manual transmission in an automatic tranny. with + and -, you can control the shifting of gears.
plus meaning 1 gear higher, minus meaning 1 gear lower.

Sequential clutchless manual transmission. But its not a manual transmission per se just acts like one.

Ah.. I see. Yung "DS" po? Sabi ng napagbilan namin, ginagamit daw po yun pag paakyat, tapos medyo hirap. Wala po ako idea. Wala na po kasi yung manual eh.
Thank you!

Hindi po pampalakas ng hatak ang overdrive. On the contrary, overdrive mode reduces engine torque to improve fuel efficiency. Hindi ginagamit ang O/D mode in situations that require more torque, such as overtaking and going uphill, unless sadista ka at sadyang gusto mong pahirapan ang makina mo.

lancer +/- i assume cvt yan. invecs-3 6-cvt with sport-mode
Ds = Drive-sport. same as D but much higher rpm siya mag sshift than D. well kung tinatamad ka at gusto mo sportier ang shifting, Ds ka.
+ - 1 gear up, - - 1 gear down. press it 2x in sequence, 2 gears down.. but when you do it 3-4 time a shift, di na baba / tataas ng 3-4 gears up. most of the time magagamit mo lang to during downhill if you want to maximize the engine braking. or up hill to maximize the engine power, to prevent unnecessary up/downshifts.
in normal driving, just D and let the car decide for itself. its a cvt, so its always on the right gear. you can feel a kick if you press more on the throttle and you can maximize fuel by taking easy on the pedal.
just use the +/- if youre on up/downhill. Ds - for a sportier drive. and when overtaking just press hard on the throttle.
edit - pag may +/- na yung gear switch-lever.. walang OD switch, 1, 2, 3, 4 position! nandun na lahat yun sa +/-.
