They scrimped on that maybe because of the competition. The avanza and ertiga both have 4-speed a/t too. Not sure about the br-v and mobilio but the upcoming rush also has 4-speed.

4a/t is bullet proof, besides, xpander is equipped with overdrive that allows the engine to operate at a lower RPM for a given road speed to achieve better fuel efficiency, and often quieter operation on the highway.

    nice to know.
now, let's wait for actual in-country reviews by actual owners, for confirmation.
there's no telling what stripped-down or souped-up variant the manufacturer will choose to ship over...

Yes Doc, indeed..But as per my observation, its third row is wider than the previous montero. Among BRV, Xpander, Ertiga and Avanza, pinaka naliitan ako sa Ertiga. Ang ayoko lang sa Xpander e yung side skirts.hehe.nagmukang boxy, mas maganda siguro pag wala yon.

Well this is just based on specs not on actual driving experience.

Is anyone here have this car and check the actual fuel consumption? Perhaps you can share to us

Yes. Both of them have engines derived from the GM6 City.

Well. Kagaya sa vios, ilalagay nila as upgrade ang cvt transmission down the line. They just want to capture the market with it's low price first.

    Exactly...
The usual marketing... para mas value yung price increase nila sa facelift or all new xpander in the future...

Pero lugi naman yung makakakuha ng original units. Mas bababa yung resale value ng units nila once they plan to sell theirs after some time.

if i were to buy a 10yo car i'd pick a 4spd slushbox over a CVT any day

Only 4-speed? Even if such models have 5 or 6-speed during that time?

Vodka has a point. The most common cars with CVT tranny that are 10 years old and older are the 2nd gen City/Jazz and Lancer Cedia. Both models had problems with CVT trannies if not properly maintained. Mitsubishi introduced the Lancer EX with CVT in 2008 but it is better than the other two models.

The Vios, Altis, Mazda3, and Sentra of that era all had 4AT trannies, I think.

I wonder why Mitsu didn't just come up with an extended wheelbase of the ASX and added a 3rd row. At least, you get a peppier engine and its CVT tranny. That 2.0L NA engine and CVT tranny stood the test of time with the Lancer (2008-2017).

Maybe that would be more expensive...

Correct me if I am wrong, but kaya sila nagshift sa CVT dahil gas guzzler yung A/T nila.

Yes. Malakas talaga sa gas. Kaya naging midlife upgrade sya.
