Box type yung sasakyan ko dati (it's now with my in-laws). 1800 GSR Sirius engine. Packed a lot of power kahit stock yung engine. Fun to drive, handles well.

been thinking about getting one as a daily beater...

simple mechanicals - kahit ako siguro pwede i-mekaniko ito on my own. not like today's cars... sus, i'll never touch anything in them due to complicated electronics. dashboard lng hirap kalasin, katakot pa baka magdeploy yung airbags, hehe.

bihira lng ba talaga mga a/t nito? how about if i get an a/t tranny for engines this old? meron pa ba?

My father uses an '86 Lancer EL Boxtype.

Still have mine today, its a 1981 lancer SL, changed engine to 1600cc saturn single side weber. lakas sa GAS :D Kya di ko na ginagamit.

Fairly easy to maintain and still has lotsa surplus and brand new spare parts. Kahit pang ilalim di ako nahihirapan hanapin.

    ello there, peeps.

my aunt lets me use her i-dont-know-what-year lancer boxtype. but it's the classic type. somebody told me it's a 1800 type. as a female driver, i naturally don't know much about cars. so the question is, around how far would a liter of gas go with this car? used to drive owner type, 4k, which can go for 8kms per liter.

i hope i'd get a reply soon. otherwise, i'd burn the car before it eats my pension ahead of time. lolz.

    please help.

hi to all car gurus here. im a new owner of a lancer box type 1987.

    mabangis

idle up mechanisms control engine idle speeds whenever the a/c compressor activates. it turns up the throttle, or it turns it down, depending on the load demanded by the compressor.

it will probably help reduce fuel consumption, but i say probably because i've run a pajero with a broken idle up for years with no problems, same fuel consumption as those with functional idle ups. parasitic drag on engine/acceleration was quite minimal.

if you have no idling issues (taas baba yung RPM) with aircon on, you can probably pass on the idle up. if you feel that the car is strained and accelerates poorly with the a/c on, you should probably get the idle up. besides, cars all have idle up mechanisms these day so i guess it won;t hurt.
