CVT is running smoothly, scheduled for replacement by 40k according to the manual but casa scheduled it at 30k

Brake, coolant fluid are scheduled for replacement by 40k

Hitachi battery lasted over 3 years, just topped it up with deionized water then later on with rain water

Relays are made by panasonic

High current fuses are well built and well located

Alternator winded wires are thick

The 3 spark plugs are iridium tipped which is scheduled for replacement by 100k km

Park lamp failed after 4 years

Aircon manual control illumination lamp got busted after 4 years

Impact sensor replaced after 3 years

Mitsubishi let me bring my own oil. 3liters of oil cost P1000

Aircon is made by denso, still good after 4 years

Tires are from bridgestone

P4/km fuel cost, mostly 95 octane

Side mirrors are huge

Engine is powerful enough to tread hilly terain (cabiang tunnel), steep parking like in isetann recto and basement parking of araneta center caloocan, the mall in commonwealth and regalado

Air filter typically cost P500

Aircon cabin filter P900

Oil filter cost P300

My advice is to go for wigo for the resale value

GLX head unit is so so, but attach an android tablet and it will work wonders with offline maps, dlna entertainment, witv digital tv. Thru a separate LTE modem it will transform the car into a mobile internet hub thru tethering or hotspot where everyone riding this car can enjoy audio & video streaming

If the buyer looks beneath the surface mirage is the way to go, but if its resale value one can never go wrong with a toyota

Was in Manila for more than half of March and was able to meet friends and Uber/Grab drivers who use a Mirage (sorry, I can't comment on the Wigo)

My friends love their Mirage (G4 and Hatch) they say it's more fuel efficient compared to the old (non-Dual VVTI) Vios.

1 Uber/Grab driver told me he hates the fact that the Mirage uses a cable type clutch... He already broke 2 cables in 2 years.

Personally, I hate the look of the Mirage's aircon vent (the one in the middle)... I see it all the time when I drove my friend's car...

I also hate the flat feel of the rear seats (reminds me of the FX)

Against the Wigo (on paper), I love the fact that the Mirage has a bigger engine (I have occassional trips to Ilocos). I also prefer CVT than the normal A/T.

Against the Brio... The Brio is more expensive, has a better engine and it's a Honda.

Wigo may have a better resale value but if you do not plan to sell your car in the next 5-10 years, you may want to test drive all 3 cars and see which one you prefer.

(My personal theory) Mirage is under the "CARS" program so I guess it's model won't change for the next 6 years... Which means the car won't look too old since you won't expect a next generation anytime soon.

Mirage engine with code 3a9X is made by daimler, and i dont expect it any way inferior to hondas vtec engine technology

The Mirage doesn't have a turbo.

The "lag" felt there is the hole in the powerband due to engine tuning.

So far, issues with ours are a chattering AC clutch on start-up... that's about it.

Pretty decent car. Better economy, IMHO, than the Wigo. I've driven this, the Wigo and the Celerio multiple times in the past. Didn't like the Wigo... terribly cheap interior and asthmatic performance compared to the Mirage and Celerio, with no benefits in terms of economy. Prefer the Celerio most, but the family doesn't like the back seat. The Mirage had the best balance of space, performance and economy, so that's what we got.

I can foresee what will potentially break in the next few years. The stock horn is absolutely pathetic. The suspension is lightweight, and I'm anticipating some clunks in a few years (but then, that's par for the course for any car driven in the Philippines)... beyond that, I like the engine the most in this size class, and the Mirage is tied with the Wigo in terms of interior space, but with a better looking and feeling interior.

As for resale? Toyota premium is over-rated. Check on OLX and there are 2014 Mirages for as low as 299k. There are also 2014 Wigos for as low as 270k. Some secondhand Wigos feature asking prices higher than brand new... but what idiot would pay brand new price for a secondhand car? Both average at 350k. Granted, Mirages start at 50k more than Wigos, but Mitsubishi offers deep discounts (we got ours for 40k off).

Besides, we don't buy and sell on three to five year cycles. We'll run this car into the ground. Already at 10k kilometers and it's not six months old yet.

So I am interested in buying a mirage hb gls cvt...nakausap ko isang agent from a certain dealer here in manila, tanong niya ano po ba kulay and variant. I told the agent, why ask now e nagpapa-quote pa nga lang ako. then the agent told me para daw ma-check nila sa planta if may available pa. why? sabi ko. then the agent told me na baka daw kasi may lalabas na na bagong mirage this june or july. so syempre mas mahal yun sa currrent model, so I asked the agent kung ano specs or improvements ng bagong lalabas, wala pa daw sila hawak na papers. because of this, napaisip ako ng maraming tanong:

1. May lalabas ba talagang new model ng mirage this year? or any foreign version to search for?

2. If meron, should I wait for it or just buy the "old stock"?

3. If wala, what could be the reason para sabihin ito ng agent? hindi ba gusto nga nila makabenta agad, so if may new model buyers might delay their purchase and delay the sales on the agent's part?
