Guys I'm considering to get the 2017 Monterosport GLS 4x2 AT as our second car. We've already outgrown our Lancer EX na kasi. It'll continue to serve me as my workhorse while the new car will be our weekend and coding car.

Right now, I'm 70-80% sold on Innova G but I'd like to hear your thoughts if the ~120k difference of monty is worth it.

I know comparing that I'm trying to compare two very different cars in terms of segment but we already concluded that regardless of the difference, they'll both serve what we need for a growing family. What we need to know now is that which would give us more car per buck.

Here's our current assessment. I hope you guys can fill in our ???:

    Exterior Looks: monty
    Interior Looks: innova
    Amenities: innova
    Comfort: innova
    Height: monty
    Seating capacity: innova
    Power: ???
    Stability during on a 100kph run: ???
    Safety Features: ???
    Tech: ???
    Fuel Economy: ???
    Maintenance cost: ???
    Driving Comfort: ???

I've test driven innova so far and I liked it. Hoping to drive a monty this week.

    Thanks in advance.

In terms of driving, I like both, but again these two can't be compared directly. If you see yourself primarily doing a lot of city driving or going through routes you traverse regularly, the Innova might be the better choice. Getting in and out of this MPV is easy. Compared to the Montero Sport, it's roomier inside, and it's a more versatile hauler of people and cargo. And it is comfortable too, of course.

But if you travel a lot out of town to remote, far-flung places, or go through flood-prone areas, the Montero Sport is the right choice. An SUV platform prepares you for the unpredictability of road and weather conditions is better than an MPV.

    power: same
innova - power to weight ratio.
montero - has higher torque and hp

but Innova is detuned. once iniba na nila ang mapping mas malakas ang power ng Innova.

    100kph run: Innova
    Safety; monty
    tech: monty
    fuel: innova
    Maintenance: innova
    driving : innova

Guys, anu po yung parang maliit na box sa harap ng rear axle?
Parang alanganin lang kasi yung location niya.

Harmonic balancer/damper. Use to cancel out noises and vibration coming from the gears and drive shaft.

Hands down. Pinaka malambot talaga monty, almost similarly profiled sa mux and xwind sa lambot. Okay sya driving on slow/moderate speed bumps di mo ramdam lubak. Cons is, at high speed bumps, matagal bago mag settle since malambot nga damping ng shocks giving some the "nakakahilo" like or "barko" like swaying. Also, at high speed driving, you feel a bit disconnected vs. "Hard" profiled suspension, etc...

Fortuner is on the hard side. Again, it has its own pros and cons. While, everest is balanced between monty and fort's suspension tuning + the advantage of watts links sa rear giving you a more planted feel especially at high speeds.

Some people, like to upgrade their shocks since may hinahanap pa sila na parang kulang sa ride nila. Same logic, when one upgrade their car stereo or put some subwoofer to suit their needs.

I'm currently torn between Monty and Everest. I'm planning to buy before the end of the year.

If I may ask, how's the electronic park brake of the new Monty? Hindi ba sya sirain? Nakakatakot na baka magmalfunction bigla habang umaandar at mastuck na lang ako sa high-way.

Has there been reports on how durable and reliable this new technology is on the new Montero?

They say mas okay pa rin daw yung manual handbrake

For me mas nakakatakot yung sa ford electronic steering alam ko may mga incident na naglock siya.

Hi guys..planning to get the GLS 2wd. The discount is really tempting. Would have wanted the Everest Trend..then I read the Monty won the SUV of the year 2016. So it's a good buy..any comments is welcome. Thanks guys!

In terms of features the everest maybe a step ahead but for me the Montero makes up in the powertrain department. And as you have mentioned, the price after the discounts is really tempting.
I chose the GLS premium over the Everest titanium because of this. I also own a 2nd gen everest and the after sales services that I experienced with ford also contributed to my decision.
Both of these SUVs are good so make a test drive of both then choose what you really like.

the suv award was based on what the judges prefered. if comfort and space is what you need then its not the monty...

Actually, the monty has the most comfortable ride among the ppvs esp the fort and eve. My friends themselves who own them attest to this whenever we ride with each other. Pinaka-matagtag talaga ang fort and slightly mas matagtag ang eve. Ive also upgraded my wheels to 20inches but still very comfortable with potholes.
With space, the monty is slightly smaller than the others but not significant imo. My family fit comfortably. My wife, 4 kids and 2 yayas. My 2 older kids sit at the back. So that's 4 adults and 4 kids[emoji51]
Of course it's not a perfect ppv, but nothing is. it checks all my needs. One of the major consideration is aftersales service (which is great from diamond valle) and car shops/talyer are familiar with mitsubishi and easier to repair if out of warranty.
Tbh, I dont think anyone will make a mistake with any of the ppv choices in the market now. Wala na ang isuzu trooper eh [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

I think hindi sa tagtag sila nagpapalit but mas marami ang aftermarket accessories available sa monty and fort. Sobrang daming nagbibihis ng old monty. Favorite din i-offroad ang monty and fort compared to the last eve model. But with the new eve, kasabay na nya ang monty and fort with number of accessories.
I had the old fort and daming options for shocks and springs but improvement daw was only til 20%.
We still have the old eve and a 2014 fort. Pinaka-grabe sa tagtag ang old eve, parang stallion.[emoji16]

Well compare the 3rd row seats of the monty and eve? The eve is for kids only..

My mom's Titanium 4x2 is more matagtag than my Montero GLS Premium 4x2 imo. Stock pa both including wheels and shocks. Dont like the feel of the Titanium's stock wheels, mas ramdam bawat road imperfection haha.
