Ride comfort is another matter.. something that I also discussed in my other post. I said it is closer to my preferred "feel", softer than a Fortuner (I know some folks preferred stiffer, I don't as I rarely go off road)

So yeah, I know the difference between handling and ride comfort... clear na po?
Actually mas need ang hard suspension for cornering at soft pag lubaklubak.
Btw tomorrow na labas ng unit ko. Pwede ko kaya sya magamit out of town this week. Ilan days ba palugit

exactly! for me montero got that right mix, handles well (for a tall SUV) but the suspension is not too stiff. The Everest is a very close second.

congrats, enjoy your new car. wala na palugit, technically. LTO said you are only allowed to take the car on the road from dealership to place of residence on the day of purchase.

But that didn't stop me using the car. I thought wala naman siguro manghuhuli sa probinsya (Laguna and Alabang). Just be cautious, drive only on familiar roads.

It took exactly 3 weeks for us to get the or/cr (from the unit released date).

Actually sanayan lang. what is your previous car that made you compare that this has smaller interior. . My mux is more comfortable especially if im a passenger interms of legroom and suspension. Functionality of dash board like top compartment for storing toll tickets . Cup holder on ac vent works like a refrigeration on my drinks . Suspension Not too soft and not too hard. Extra monitor at the back for kids. Despite this montero is fun to drive. Too many toys. Great engine power. Futuristic design. And its 4x4 which . I can go to places that is not ridable by 4x2.

    Thank you for this Boybit!
Do you have the 2.5 or the 3.0 Mux?

What is crystal clear is that you probably have no idea what handling is about ... a softly tuned suspension on a tall SUV handling better than one with a stiffer suspension? ... Seriously?

May be he had no idea what handling is all about. Just by test driving he has concluded. For me stiffer suspension would be best in handling and cornering. I havent drive the montero yet but im planning to make its suspension stiffer because they said they are soft among all ppv. Yet my kux is also soft . Some times tumutukod yun stopper when full on big pot hole.

yes seriously. can you honestly tell me that the Fortuner, with a stiffer suspension, handles better than the Montero? Can you? Again, the comparison is among SUV PPV, not VS any car, not VS a sedan.

If you thought that I said that the Montero is 'the best' handling car then you missed the point.

I'm talking compromises, preferences. If you still don't get it then lets just agree to disagree.

Chk the australian review on ppv's rolling possibilities and monty was among the highest. I havent drive the latest monty. But by experience from previous fort and monty. I would say fort is good in fast cornering than monty. But in everyday life or most driver does not corner at 50 to 60 kph. Mostly straight and cruising speed especially here in metromanila. On high speed naman mas better din fort dahil stiff suspension. D maalon running like 160 kph up mas stable sa uneven surface. But monty is more comfortable in daily driver scheme. Sedan has better handling tgan suv because of its low center of gravity short travel suspension. While suv has high center of gravity and long travel suspension so the weight of suv and high center of gravity will sway more in soft suspension .and if the weight of the body has overcome the centrifugal force it will roll over. Same will go to sedan. The more comfort the less handling. So balancing on both is crucial. We drivers have different habit of driving . Some drive fast and some slow. May be monty is well balance among average. They say its the handling not engine power makes you run fast. And comfort that lets you drive or endure more.

ahh.. what you are saying is true but you too missed the point sir. I am talking about preference, my preference. I said the Montero has that right mix of (again, my preferred) suspension and handling.

I am aware that lowered amd stiffer suspension = good handling. I own a mazda 3 and a ford fiesta, I sometimes borrow a friend's t86, and I've driven a lot of good rental cars. I wouldn't dare say the Montero handles better than any of those cars. I know what handling is all about.

Why would one driver behind the wheel corner fast on a regular road?

Corner fast on a race track and its reasonable, race on a regular road is beyond reason

Montero is not a race car, drivers habit of racing an SUV on a regular road is a bad idea coz it leads to accidents

Heck, even motorways have speed limit

Race your fortuner in a race track and ill drive my montero in a regular road
