Brand Fortuner as Daihatsu will it sell? ... I Guess not. We all know the real selling point is the T badge. The huge network of parts, maintenance, service centers is what most common people wants. They commonly treat their car as a utility. Only car enthusiast understands the nitty gritty of a car. They are the ones who love them. The Car of the year awards is treated with Love! hehe

Oo nga eh, may curse pa nga yata, kasi yung mga nanalo the past years, mababa sales.

Toyota built their reputation on having reliable vehicles for more than 4 decades, kaya till now, yan ang nasa isip ng marami, the t-badge is reliable. Mitsu also was able to build upon their track record as a reliable vehicle manufacturer (we had the lancer l-type, box type, itlog, pizza pie, all were very reliable), but was tarnished by the monty's SUA issue (di ako naniniwala, its more of a combination of driver error and design issue as 2011 and below models' gear stick can be shifted from P to any gear by just depressing the shift lock and not needing to depress the brakes). Other manufacturers needs to catch up and show that they are on par or better than toyota. Ford is trying to catch up with the latest rangers (and everest) improving from initial issues that the T7 ranger had. Adding to that, Ford Phil's GM is hell bent on improving their aftersales. In the end, consumers are the winners.....hopefully the new excise tax on vehicles will continue to be delayed, hehehe, OT.

Ahh but this is a Montero Sports 2016 thread last time I check.
There are some Toyota cars that I liked (the old hilux, big body corolla, the latest innova) and some honda (civic, the new crv) but I believe, and with all due respect to Fortuner fans, this discussion about "My Fortuner is better than Montero" getting irrelevant without actual data and facts (engine specs, features). Looks, car prestige, etc is always subjective.

No need to be too emotional naman, guys. The thing is the success of the Fortuner is really Land Rover's fault, yes the British car maker. The British not really having a presence here in Asia after being booted out by the Japs in Ww2, yun products nila na-concentrate sa Middle East and Africa. And these regions having tough terrains led to the success of the iconic Land Rover. Tignan nyo anong movie ang hindi exotic looking pag walang Land Rover.

Maybe it's in the name - Land Rover - sobrang simple yet tough sounding.

So the Japanese in the 60-70s being the copycat capital of the world. Yes they were the first, sumunod lang China, ginawa ng Toyota ang

Land Cruiser. - kopya sa Land Rover. So the keyword here is land followed by a verb that became a powerful noun.

So here goes:

Land Rover/ Land Cruiser - tough all terrain vehicle
Fortuner - fortune parang makakuha ka ng diamond / gold sa mountain. So parang all-terrain although metaphor lang yun pero syembre favorite ng Chinese kaya nga Metobank may hawak sa Toyota eh lol

And then comes Chevy - hindi nila pwede tawagin Land Blazer. Kumita na yun eh. And syempre Blazer minsan pang-formal party so . So pinalitan nila ng Trail - Trailblazer. -astig pa din!

The. isuzu with the Mu - X.. What's Mu for short ? mountain then put an X in the end. Eh di parang Xxx Xander cage or Generation X. - rugged pa din, outdoors ika nga.

And what about the Ford with Everest - hello, sino pa ba tatalo sa biggest mountain in the world [emoji12]. Quick thinking for the Americans

And then Mitsubishi, Montero what is that parang cast name sa isang fictional ranchero sa movies. Gawin mong Montero Sport, imagine-in mo na lang si Troy Montero naka-sport ng headband sinasamahan yun asawa nya sa gym then mag-video for instagram for almost one whole day tapos lahat tayo nagtatrabaho ng 9-5, tapos papa-feel nila they look beautiful and fit eh kasi nga maghappn lang sa gym, hindi nahihirapan, o di ba ganyan ang Montero pa-pogi, malambot sumakay. It looks fit of course, it's a PPV. Bur Is it as tough as the Fortuner?

ok lang mag voice ng opinion about comparison pero sana yung mga may facts or data. like fort has a better engine because it has 147 ps and 400 NM of torque VS 181ps and 430 NM for the fortuner mated to an 8 speed geabox VS 6 speed on the Fort; or that the 2.4G has more features like auto climate control, paddle shifter, gps, backup camera/sensor (see what I did there? )

pero yung mga opinyon na "fortuner is the best because it is a toyota blah blah" e wag na yun. besides may thread naman about SUV comparison, where most of the fortuner fans are also posting, where most of the people here probably already read but still chose the montero sports. So my wish is that this thread be all about discussing the Montero Sports.

Daming kulang sa bagong Fortuner 2.4 G, the Innova 2.8V feels like a much better deal. Plus the dinky wheels sa 2.4G looks awkward. Sa Monty, atleast the stock 18-inchers is enough to satisfy my need to upgrade rims. [emoji41]
