Sir question, san pwede panggalingan ng water leak kung nakasara na yung cooler inlet?

sir jovill, yung inlet line lang po ng exhaust gas ang na-blank patungo sa cooler, but inside the cooler, there is still the flow of water, its like a cooling water and exhaust gas heat exchanger po ang construction nito AFAIK.... what i am telling po is the possible water leak inside the cooler, maybe not now or next year but it is possible to happen.... inuulit ko po, i am not against sa egr blocking, naka-block na rin po yung egr ng montero namin but i blanked the inlet and outlet line of egr cooler (16n and 12n) for added protection lamang po in case of accidental water leak inside the heat exchanger. Again, i am telling that this is just my personal opinion because i read also that the water inside the EGR cooler is possible to and can also leak. Subukan ko pong hanapin yung topic na yun and will share it here. If my understanding about the EGR valve and its cooler installation is wrong, maybe some expert out there can enlighten me....

tama kayo sir sa intake kasi ng cooler pinakamadaling mag blocked pero yong cooler e di naman basta mabubutas, sa dinamidami ng na erg block ni sir zix wala pa naman complain na ganyan mine was bolcked last sat. courtesy of sir zix ganda nang hatak d na mausok tenks sir zix

+1 ako dyan you have a valid reason and observation there sir, coolant also passes through that exhaust pre cooler/heat exchanger and goes through the aircon/heater too which uses it to blow hot air whenever you want to use it and recirculates it in loop.what you did is a precaution on your part and i hope other fellow tsikoteers will understand.

I have the same blank points for same reason.. 16n & 12n.
Exhaust gas going to the EGR cooler (and to EGR) is cooled by the coolant, same coolant passing thru your radiator, engine block & heater core.
There are cases na nag le-leak ang coolant sa EGR cooler. This is usually the cause of the mystery coolant disappearance. Kung saan nauubos ang coolant pero walang leak na makita. The exhaust gas and the coolant itself may cause the leak in the EGR cooler. But since, naka blank na ang N16 at N12, coolant na lang ang posibleng maging cause ng leak. And since naka blank na nga yong cooler wala na pupuntahan si coolant kung hindi sa original coolant loop din.
Though matagal naman bago mangyari ang issue na to. As long as OEM coolant gagamitin natin. Baka nasa second owner na car natin bago pa mangyari ito.

sir gundam, I read it here, maybe this link can help... if the samel scenario will happen to our 4d56 engine, because 16n is already blocked, the only way to go for the coolant in case of leak is thru 12n, that will lead eventually to intake manifold.... with this mas malamang na sira ka agad engine because di nga sya makalalabas sa exhaust pipe dahil nakablank ang 16n. kung naka blank ang 12n, at least ay contained lang ang coolant inside the egr cooler....HTH...

+1 i did 2pt blanking n16 and n12. Reason why i blank n12 para walang water na dadaan papuntang manifold. Yung hose na nakakabit sa egr cooler is line ng coolant. Na discover ko yan nung nagkabit ako ng rcp ko tinagal ko yung hose tpos nagulat ako line ng coolant pala siya.

+1 i did 2pt blanking n16 and n12. Reason why i blank n12 para walang water na dadaan papuntang manifold. Yung hose na nakakabit sa egr cooler is line ng coolant. Na discover ko yan nung nagkabit ako ng rcp ko tinagal ko yung hose tpos nagulat ako line ng coolant pala siya.

Fellow member sir sa mscp po sir. High grade SS yung plates na gamit niya so no worries na mabutas po.

i have a plate for n16 only (from zix) at tingin ko hanggan jan lang ang kaya ng diy powers ko..timbang timbangin ang possibilities.. sa history ba ng 4d56, madalas ba nangyayari ang egr cooler leak (naka blank man o hindi) ?? ;)

take it out of the equation. preserving the cooler at the same time

Fellow member sir sa mscp po sir. High grade SS yung plates na gamit niya so no worries na mabutas po.

Ok yan zix gawin if out of warranty na monty natin pero pag pasok pa mas ok pang i blank nalang pati n12 as safety precautions sir.

Ala naman problema yan sir naka blank or hindi. dahil pag mag leak si coolant sa exhaust mo parin lalabas siya. Check mo yung youtube video sir about egr po it helps a lot po.

Having read all the replies, I think it is safe for now especially to all under warranty to just have the blanking at n16 at this time since this is the most discreet point. Just probably add one in the 12n area after warranty expires since the egr cooler is unlikely to break down in the first three years. Even if it does, you still have warranty anyway!
